We have another one coming up in about a week, but we must first get through the anniversary of 911 and the prophecies about the crash coming on September 14, 2015. A lot of Republican punsters are predicting people will get tired of Trump by the time the Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina's primary voting occurs in February 2016. Will Trump get tired? Is his more recent book better?Mike,My suggestion for you to read The Art of the Deal was not to convince you to switch from Carly.It was for you to help correctly identify The Donald so that when you talked about him, you would be accurate. Even with the half-book you already read, you have to admit his soul is not the media caricature. The man dreams big, is a hard worker, tries to deal fairly with people even has he drives a hard bargain, evaluates himself and others according to merit, does not take the easy way by default, and so on. If you read O-Land and l-land think tanks, you get the impression that Trump is cross between Pol Pot and Hitler in the making all in a playboy wrapper. Or, from other caricatures, you think he is a braggart buffoon who always takes credit for things he didn't do and always sticks it to the little guy. Or maybe he inherited his wealth. Or he only does deals to get fat government contracts. Etc.One very good chapter I recommend before you close the book is the one about the ice rink. There you will see how he works when he doesn't know anything about a new project and how he handles incompetent politicians. (He and Ed Koch never did get along.) If you look, you will see that Howard Stern (that Howard Stern) likes Trump a lot. The ice rink episode is one of the reasons.I, myself, was in doubt about Trump's incursion into gambling because I have a visceral negative reaction to gambling people (the ones I have known were worse than drug dealers), but I am satisfied with his framing of it. I forget where in the book he talked about it, but his view was that the biggest casino in the world is the stock market. Morally, he saw no difference between that kind of gambling and casinos. I think he's right.Interestingly, in that book, you do not see Trump using the stock market for anything other than acquiring companies. He does not use it to gamble like so many do.Regarding other books, I have a few, but have only skimmed them. Recently, I did get Time to Get Tough: Make America Great Again!, but I haven't read it. I also have several other of his books lying around from my interest in studying marketing.I saw Trump live a few years ago at a Learning Annex conference. Kat and I stuck around for the Q&A. He did not impress me very much back then because all he talked about was Rosie O'Donnell and how much of a bully she was. And how you have to smack bullies back hard to make them stop. And yada yada yada. Almost the whole Q&A was about this--and, boy, was it a long Q&A. According to Seder, Trump is great for the progressives (which Seder calls "America") because he forces other GOP candidates to adopt the insanity of GOP supporters. Subtext, the American people, other than progressives, are stupid and insane. Deeper subtext, Seder will show them the way to become human beings if they ever decide to use their brains. But he doesn't think that is possible. Note, Seder thinks Trump is a Frankenstein monster, but wait! There's more! Trump's success is due to the average Republican being a Frankenstein monster in disguise. Woah... heavy, dude... Seder's biggest delight in this talk was the anchor baby gotcha on Jeb Bush that Seder says Trump forced on him, thus proving that Bush, while he may not be a Frankenstein monster himself, is now being forced to talk like one to get votes from his Frankenstein monster base. What takeaway do I get from this snarky boneheaded sanctimonious mishmash? Simple. If this dude is the best in persuasion the progressives have, it will be too easy once Trump is nominated. It won't be a fair fight and idiots like Seder won't know what hit them. The guy's head is so far into his identity story where he and his kind are the Superior Ones, he can't see reality. And just on a common sense level, when have stupid slaves (like Seder's nonprogressive American people) ever been called stupid slaves to their faces and then voted for the master race (Seder and his progressives)? This is kind of duh. Think it dude. Don't say it. Calling people Frankenstein monsters is not the way to persuade them of anything. Talk about flunking Persuasion 101. The rally will star Donald Trump, and feature Senator Ted Cruz, Governor Sarah Palin, Mark Levin and Glenn Beck. It starts at noon with the first key speaker taking the stage at one. I bet Fox will cover some of it live.Can members of congress be swayed by reason and morality? Locally on Fox there has been an advertisement featuring Delaware Senator Coons very intelligently saying no to the deal, but in the meantime he has pledged to support it. Senator Coons just say no!
