It is like volunteering to ride a rocket or attempt a summit of high altitude mountain, it is a known risk , a known high risk activity. The part I have the hardest time with is the relative youth of some of the participants. It just doesn't seem like a rational level of risk for youth. And it seems like the collapse, thus the death of the occupants, was instant. Maybe less than a second of super-squish. It's not much, but at least they did not suffocate to death after being in the dark and in close quarters for days as they perceived their air run out. If there had been an experienced crew, the professionals would have never let the vehicle get that low and they would have made sure it was ship-shape before the voyage. But an experienced crew would have dealt with reality, not a wished-for state based on woke ideology like Stockton Rush tried to put into practice. Besides, I don't know the origin of the money of the people on the sub, but my guess would be from The Aristocracy of Pull more than from honest dealings. I just don't see Randian-leaning people, or even those with high integrity, going into a sub that uses a game controller as it's navigation interface.
