I watched their show on anger management. At the end of the show Teller talked about some angry people. He said something like Ayn Rand was angry about the Soviet Union and the way the culture treated heroes and so she wrote Atlas Shrugged. It was and unexpected and delightful moment.

The news from Dixville Notch was not good for Mrs Clinton. She got no votes.Ron Paul also got no votes. We'll know more in twelve hours.I got it all wrong. She won.Ron Paul is not doing very well. To his supporters he should know what he put in newsletters with his name.

Kat; You are always very sweet
Since I am breaking with TAS I need all the friends I can get. -
John Fund had an article in the Dec. 28 Wall Street Journal which says the story told in the movie is better than some of my comments. One of his points is no Democrat would act in that way today.Fund liked the movie.

For a discussion of the movie, see Jack Wheeler's article, "Charlie Wilson and Ronald Reagan's War." Jack was intimately involved in the events described in the film and the book.

Barbara Barbara; Thanks for the link.
Jack Wheeler was very involved with all these events as you say. It would be lovely to think that Jack is stirring things up in Iran. -
Jody; I lived off and on in Oregon the first 18 years of my life. I remember days where the sun shined. To be honest I also remember days with rain.
I hope I can get to Portland and meet you. -
I urge all OL readers to look DIW latest post.
Today is the final post and it is excellent. I hope all OL readers will look at it.

Chavez is described as being unhappy about the results. What a shock!

I'm still waiting for Al Sharpton.

It has the odd disclaimer that the inclusion of Peikoff's stuff doesn't mean he agrees with everything that is sold.
Peikoff has the same disclaimer about their Summer Conference. He maybe simply be saying he can't approve before he hears it..

Stan Evans will be on Book TV at noon today and midnight Monday talking about Blacklisted by History.

I've enjoyed your postings very much. Thanks Chris.

Thanks: I hope I have met my goal.

Chris,
My grandparents on my father's side had the Booth Tarkington books. Penrod, Penrod and Sam and others. I read a bunch of them as a kid. They were delightfully politically incorrect and they were hilarious.
None of them would be published in today's environment, but they provide a unique view of Ameircana at that time.
Jim
Jim;
I have not read Booth Tarkington. I have the feeling the movies were not close to the books. You are absolutly correct they would not be published today. Chris -
It was the Virginia Senate that went to the Dems not the House. The police endorsed candidate for district attorney won in Fairfax County.

Chris,
I always enjoyed Book Notes with Brian Lamb every Sunday night. He seemed to have many conservative and libertarian authors, as well as U.S. historians.
Neil; Brian Lamb is a great interviewer. Book TV has a program where the author is interviewed by someone who disagrees with the author. This weekend for example Grover Norquist interviewed a New Republic author who has written an attack on supply siders.
Neil; I have also met Mr. Lamb in person and he is very polite and approachable. He's getting the Medal of Freedom this week. He earned it. -
I hope that is the case. I happen to know she is still interviewing people. I'm honored you look at my blog.I'm watching it now. Anne Heller said that her biography will be out next summer, which is good news. -
Chris,
Perhaps Burness, the administrator who publcly badmouthed former coach Pressler in apparent violation of a prior settlement, will get fired.
But is the Board prepared to fire its own Chairman? He's been a major supporter and protector of President Brodhead all along.
Robert Campbell
Robert; You're probably right. Sadly! Chris

Robert; I was in Borders today looking for the Taylor book. When I checked the store on-line catalog the book was not yet available. I later found it hidden away.
Why do is suspect the pc police are on the job. -
Robert; I think you are sadly right on this topic. Brodhead's excuse for some of his actions is lack of information but some his statements should not have even been made. Chris
-
I have just found that the name of author of Hollywood Party is Lloyd Billingsley.
-
Chris,
Amazon's delay announcement was merely precautionary.
I received the book on Friday and (despite other commitments that are limiting my reading time) I'm well past past page 100 now. The book is a genuine page-turner, well deserving of the blurb from John Grisham that appears on the front cover.
The first chapter, a concise history of Duke University's strained relationship with Durham, North Carolina, has convinced me to never apply for a job there.
Robert
Robert; I think that is good idea especially as long as Brodhead is President of Duke. I would think the Board of Trustees of Duke would be upset at all the law suits Duke has had to settle as a result of Brodhead's actions. Chris

Chris,
Amazon now tells me they won't be able to ship me the book till October 8 or thereabouts.
I'm wondering whether orders for the book haven't substantially exceeded the publisher's (low?) sales targets.

I was at the B&N downtown store in DC yesterday. They had copies althrough they didn't have them well displayed. I looked over a couple sections of the book and what I saw looks great. I don't know I soon I will get my reserve copy.

Jody; I haven't seen the latest information on Heath's case. For that reason I am not going to condemn him and stand by my statement that the story is sad.
