Book TV

For 48 hours on weekends C-Span 2 has Book TV. Book TV has 48 hours of programming about non-fiction books. You can watch book events at bookstores, think tanks, and universities.

It is programming for literates unlike the old movies, sports events, and tired programs on the other stations.

I find the range of books is a happy one.

On the first Sunday of every month Book TV does a three hour interview with an author. They have had David Horowitz, Christopher Hitchens, and Tammy Bruce among others. This program is repeated the following Saturday.

Sadly some cable providers are eliminating C-Span 2 from their basic cable package. This is trend that is very sad. However with a fast computer you can watch on your computer.

Chris,

I always enjoyed Book Notes with Brian Lamb every Sunday night. He seemed to have many conservative and libertarian authors, as well as U.S. historians.

Neil; Brian Lamb is a great interviewer. Book TV has a program where the author is interviewed by someone who disagrees with the author. This weekend for example Grover Norquist interviewed a New Republic author who has written an attack on supply siders.

Neil; I have also met Mr. Lamb in person and he is very polite and approachable. He's getting the Medal of Freedom this week. He earned it.
