"The Story on Page One"

I was reminded of this movie while watching a documentary about Rita Hayworth on TCM. The movie was released in early 60ths starring Rita, Gig Young, and Anthony Francoise. It also has a wonderful performance by Mildred Dunnock has Gig Young's smothering mother. Gig and Rita play the accused murders of Rita's abusive husband. Francoise plays Rita's attorney. It has a great scrip and good acting yet I have never seen it on TV. I think it is one of Rita's better performances in her second c

My Posts on Objectivist Living

A group of other posters don't like the fact that I have not joined the RON PAUL REVOLUTION and I criticize the great man. A Great thinker said judge and be prepared to be judged for your judgments. I am prepared to be judged for my judgments. Dr. Paul has attracted a bunch of whiners for supporters.

The Lacrosse Case Again

We are still waiting on some of the defense motions to dismiss. The hearings are in September. The really big news is that Crystal Magnum the "dancer" has a book coming out. If she does not give a full confession of wrong-doing I will not even look at it. From the information about the book on Durham in Wonderland she will probably have many suits against her after the book comes out.

William Shatner, Captain Kirk and Star Trek

I have been reading William Shatner's autobiography "Up till Now". Shatner has been acting for a very long time starting in the 50ths in television in Canada and then on the US networks. The part he will be most remembered for is Captain James T. Kirk of the Star Ship Enterprise. Star trek has been shown in reruns for years and been spun off with at least four spin-offs. Shatner tells of people coming up to him in airport and reciting whole episodes of the show. Shatner spends a page and ha

Radicals for Happiness

Radicals for Happiness is my external blog devoted to sharing things of joy, movie and book reviews, links to music and other positive matters. Really Long Life

Today is Nick Dyke's birthday with several people suggesting a really long life. There is an episode of the Twilight Zone where Kevin McCarthy plays a man who has already lived more than a century. It was not easy for him since he had to keep reinventing himself. He keeps seeing people he loves die. The same thing was true in the movie "The Green Mile". People keep dying.

On the killing of dogs by police officers

In the last couple of weeks the home of the mayor of a small Prince George's County was raided by a swat team because the home had received a delivery of marijuana. The mayor and his family were subjected to all the thing that happen in these actions including the killing of his two dogs. If you read Radley Balko's blog The Agitator he has a host of stories of this sort. The people who were raided were held for over an hour withe their dead dogs very close to them. There are investigations g

Aspberger's and the Computer World

Here is an article from -Wired- indicating a synergy between the aspie world and the world of computer software. http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/9.12/aspergers_pr.html I have seen estimates that hypothesize that as many as 20 percent of the males in the computer software business are either aspies or auties. An Aspie in the Dark Ages

I was a child in thd late 30's and 40's. In those days neurological dysfunctions were not understood particularly well and there was a general intolerance to and for people who were "peculiar" and "touched in the head". Prior to 1950 there were no psychotgropic drugs to manage various neurological dysfunctions such as bi-polar disorder, schizhophrenia, severe depression (melancholia). Aspberger's was not even identified until 1944 by Doc Aspberger in Austria and did not enter mainstream class

My favorite fictional characters

A clue to one's nature can be inferred from his favorite characters and heroes. My favorite fictional characters: Andrew Martin, the android in -Bicentennial Man-, played by Robbin Williams. Sarek and Spock, the son of Sarek. I dig Sarek. He married an earth woman and was happy to do so. I relate to that. I too married an earth woman. Data, the android in ST:TNG. His naivete reminds me a great deal of my childhood before I learned to pass for human. In -Atlas Shrugged- my faves were Frans

Initial posting of Aspberger's World

I will make the first posting to my blog. 1. I always wanted a blog. Now I have one. Thank you, MSK. 2. Here is place for mindless people like me. I have Aspberger's syndrome, a neural variant found in about 20 percent of the U.S. population. Our intellectual machinery does not work quite the same way as for Neuro-Typicals (you guys). 3. People like me tend to trades and professions that are rule-based and are rewarding to the literal minded. There are a lot of Aspies in the computer and softw

William Peterson

William Peterson plays Gil Grissom on CSI. He is leaving the show early next season. Grissom is all about the evidence. He seemed passionless although in the last season he had a relationship with Sara Sidell. Someone will succeed him but no one will replace him.

An On Line Poll

On Line Polls are not totally reliable except to the people who take it. Even so I am going to share one from Instapundit. Glen Reynolds asked which is the bigger problem Global Warming or People who think humanity is the blight on the planet. People who think humanity is the blight won 98 to 2.

Hector Elizando

Hector Elizando is now playing Monk's psychiatrist. My first memory of him is as the wonderful desk clerk in "Pretty Woman". He is wonderful professional and gentleman with the Julia Robert's character in that movie. He does a wonderful performance in Monk too.

John Scopes

August 3rd would be John Scope's 108th birthday. John Scopes was the defendant in what has come to be called the "monkey trial " that has been depicted in the play and movie "Inherit the Wind". There are several inaccuracies in the play and screenplay about the trial. The Scopes character is depicted as being held in jail before and during the trial. The Darrow character is depicted as fighting alone when he had several distinguished co-counsel. The Bryan character was not as much of buffoo
