Part of the proceeds of the resulting economic growth should then be used to repay the debt. " But I understand from my past readings of Austrian economists who actually corresponded with Keynes that he had misgivings or didn't stand by this characterization of his ideas later in his life. But of course, to the left, he became the bible in reference to government interference in the economy. Keynes the Speculator is precious: " “markets can remain irrational far longer than you or I can remain solvent.” " The politicians are semi-Keynsian. They love to pump money into the economy (aka buy votes) but they are laggard when it comes to taxing it back out. Why? The beneficiaries of prime the pump spending are the usual motley crew of Corporate Cronies.

Brant Gaede
14 hours ago, merjet said: John "Jack" Bogle is the founder and retired CEO of The Vanguard Group. The Vanguard Group is a huuuge asset manager with $1.721 trillion in assets. (In comparison Citigroup has about $1.8 trillion and JPMorgan Chase & Co, the largest US bank, has about $2.466 trillion. Fidelity Investments has $2.1 trillion.) In this audio interview Bogle calls Donald Trump the "new John Maynard Keynes" at about 6:45 past the start. Is that accurate? I don't know and will defer judgment. Trump's first budget as President will be very telling to me. "The Budget and Accounting Act of 1921 requires the President to submit the budget to Congress for each fiscal year which is the 12-month period beginning on October 1 and ending on September 30 of the next calendar year. The current federal budget law [ ] requires that the President submit the budget between the first Monday in January and the first Monday in February. In recent times, the President's budget submission has been issued in the first week of February. The budget submission has been delayed, however, in some new presidents' first year when the previous president belonged to a different party" (link). Trump picked Mick Mulvaney to be director of the Office of Management and Budget (link). Mulvaney is viewed to be a strong fiscal hawk. So it will be very interesting to see how this works out. The projected federal deficit for the current fiscal year (ending Sep. 30, 2017) is $503.5 billion and for the next fiscal year is $453.6 billion (source). There are two Keynes: Keynes Keynes and Keynes not-Keynes. The latter is represented by Greenspan, Bernacke and Yellen--or don't take away the punchbowl. --Brant

It's funny, but it's far more than terrible behavior or comic relief. Going by her outburst, this lady feels all the way down that she is superior to those she disagrees with. As she said, it's her America, not theirs, too. If given the power, I have no doubt this lady would be fine with reeducation camps, selective executions, public floggings and all the rest for those who dare disagree with her. Oh... not as an on-off button with a sudden switch from the person she is today to the monster I project. But definitely as an endpoint in a gradual evolution. And with her, I don't think that evolution would have to take very long. This lady should never be anywhere near power. Never. She's a control freak of the worst sort. With her, it wouldn't be "power tends to corrupt" to describe her evolution. It would be "power lets bloom the already corrupted." Michael

But let’s not scare folks like Ba’al needlessly. I wrote the following though I cut and pasted some info from a couple of web bios. Peter Hello. This is President Trump. You may already know this, but I am the first President with Jewish relatives. Americans of the Jewish faith have a friend in me. Bebe Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister, brags that he knows me and you know what? He does. I love Jews. So even though this is a nation founded on the white, Christian faith we can also celebrate Hanukkah which starts on December 24th. My father Frederick Christ (Fred) Trump was born on 11 Oct 1905 in Woodhaven, Queens, New York. He died of pneumonia on 25 Jun 1999 at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, New Hyde Park, New York. And my Mom, named Mary Anne Macleod at birth was born on 10 May 1912 in Isle of Lewis, Scotland. She died on 7 Aug 2000 also at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, New Hyde Park, NY. I have a familiarity with Jewish practice and Jewish life. My daughter, Ivanka, converted to Orthodox Judaism in 2009; I will be the first president to be the parent and grand-parent of observant Jews. Ivanka’s husband, real-estate magnate Jared Kushner, is an Orthodox Jew and one of my top advisers. The Trump Organization’s longtime chief financial officer and general counsel are both observant Jews, and I have the support of perhaps the single most important political donor in the American Jewish world—Las Vegas casino mogul Sheldon Adelson. Did I mention, my associates, Jason Greenblatt and David M. Friedman? Jews too. I bet you didn’t know I can play the guitar. I can. And I can sing. Here is my rendition of an Adam Sandler song. Put on your yalmulka, here comes Hanukkah Its so much fun-akkah to celebrate Hanukkah, Hanukkah is the festival of lights, Instead of one day of presents, we have eight crazy nights. When you feel like the only kid in town without a x-mas tree, here’s a list of People who are Jewish, just like you and me: David Lee Roth lights the menorrah, So do James Caan, Kirk Douglas, and the late Dinah Shore-ah Guess who eats together at the Carnegie Deli Bowser from Sha Na Na and Arthur Fonzerelli Paul Newman's half Jewish, Goldie Hawn's half too Put them together, what a fine lookin' Jew You don't need "Deck The Halls" or "Jingle Bell Rock" 'Cause you can spin a dreidel with Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock- both Jewish. Put on your yarmulke It's time for Hanukkah The owner of the Seattle Supersonicahs Celebrates Hanukkah O.J. Simpson, not a Jew But guess who is? Hall of famer Rod Carew- he converted We got Ann Landers and her sister Dear Abby Harrison Ford's a quarter Jewish- not too shabby Some people think that Ebenezer Scrooge is Well he's not, but guess who is All three Stooges So many Jews are in showbiz Tom Cruise isn't, but I heard his agent is Tell your friend Veronica It's time to celebrate Hanukkah I hope I get a harmonica Oh this lovely, lovely Hanukkah So drink your gin and tonicah And smoke your marijuanikah If you really, really wannakah Have a happy, happy, happy, Happy Hanukkah America! And Merry Christmas.

Ellen Ellen, LOL... This reminds me of a quip I read going around Twitter and Facebook: The Russians rigged the election by showing how the Clinton people rigged the election. (btw - I don't know how much Russian hacking was involved. Probably a little since all governments have hacking teams and they exist for a reason, but it's more likely that most exposures came from whistleblowers "voting their conscience." ) Michael

Peter
The Scott Adam’s video was very good. The way to watch an up-close podcast is to look at them speaking to see what they look like and get the sound right, then immediately minimize the video screen and play solitaire while they speak. Otherwise you will grow weary or get sea sick. My other advice is to do not go near anyone in a public place, especially someone who is coughing or looks run down. Peter the sniveler.
