Peter
This song is about “halo’s” but it isn’t sad. I liked the song in a Chanel commercial and the person doing the elegant dancing, so I looked it up. It’s Margot Robbie dancing and Beyonce singing. Margot is beautiful and so is Beyonce. Peter From WWW. Chanel Gabrielle Essence Commercial – Margot Robbie, Halo – Song by Beyoncé Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star Margot Robbie is the face of this new TV advert for Chanel Gabrielle Essence perfume. The ad campaign sees the Australian actress Margot Robbie performing some elegant and flowing movements while dressed in a white and gold gown.
Peter
I’ve mentioned him before but if you want to be awed listen again to Israel "Iz" Ka'ano'i Kamakawiwo'Ole singing a medley of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and "What a Wonderful World." If I ever have a funeral I would want that played. Peter

Peter
The coronavirus blues? This is THE wonky song for all bad occasions. Behind Blue Eyes by The Who. No one knows what it's like To be the bad man To be the sad man Behind blue eyes No one knows what it's like To be hated To be fated To telling only lies But my dreams They aren't as empty As my conscience seems to be I have hours, only lonely My love is vengeance That's never free No one knows what it's like To feel these feelings Like I do And I blame you No one bites back as hard On their anger None of my pain and woe Can show through But my dreams They aren't as empty As my conscience seems to be I have hours, only lonely My love is vengeance That's never free When my fist clenches, crack it open Before I use it and lose my cool When I smile, tell me some bad news Before I laugh and act like a fool And if I swallow anything evil Put your finger down my throat And if I shiver, please give me a blanket Keep me warm, let me wear your coat No one knows what it's like To be the bad man To be the sad man Behind blue eyes
Peter
What is a really good song with the strangest lyrics ever? Royals" by New Zealand singer Lorde. I've never seen a diamond in the flesh I cut my teeth on wedding rings in the movies And I'm not proud of my address In the torn-up town, no post code envy But every song's like gold teeth, Grey Goose, trippin' in the bathroom Blood stains, ball gowns, trashin' the hotel room We don't care, we're driving Cadillacs in our dreams But everybody's like Cristal, Maybach, diamonds on your time piece Jet planes, islands, tigers on a gold leash We don't care, we aren't caught up in your love affair And we'll never be royals (royals) It don't run in our blood That kind of lux just ain't for us We crave a different kind of buzz Let me be your ruler (ruler) You can call me Queen Bee And baby I'll rule, I'll rule, I'll rule, I'll rule Let me live that fantasy My friends and I? We've cracked the code We count our dollars on the train to the party And everyone who knows us knows that we're fine with this We didn't come from money But every song's like gold teeth, Grey Goose, trippin' in the bathroom Blood stains, ball gowns, trashin' the hotel room We don't care, we're driving Cadillacs in our dreams But everybody's like Cristal, Maybach, diamonds on your time piece Jet planes, islands, tigers on a gold leash We don't care we aren't caught up in your love affair And we'll never be royals (royals) It don't run in our blood That kind of lux just ain't for us We crave a different kind of buzz Let me be your ruler (ruler) You can call me Queen Bee And baby I'll rule, I'll rule, I'll rule, I'll rule Let me live that fantasy Oooh ooooh ohhh We're bigger than we ever dreamed And I'm in love with being queen Oooooh ooooh ohhhhh Life is great without a care We aren't caught up in your love affair And we'll never be royals (royals) It don't run in our blood That kind of lux just ain't for us We crave a different kind of buzz Let me be your ruler (ruler) You can call me Queen Bee And baby I'll rule, I'll rule, I'll rule, I'll rule Let me live that fantasy
Peter
Sad songs but uplifting too. The Cranberries. “Dreams. Just My Imagination. Zombie. Linger.” I think “Linger” is my favorite. Wikipedia is fund raising . . . . On 12 September 1995, O'Riordan performed "Ave Maria" along with Luciano Pavarotti in his Pavarotti & Friends series of benefit concerts, entitled Together for the Children of Bosnia, which raised funds for War Child and the children of Bosnia, held in Modena, Italy. Princess Diana, who attended the live performance, told O'Riordan that the song brought her to tears. During the show, O'Riordan performed "Linger" as a duet with Simon Le Bon of Duran Duran. Peter
Saddest song? “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac though I remember reading Stevie Nicks wrote it before joining the group. “Landslide” I took my love, I took it down I climbed a mountain and I turned around And I saw my reflection in the snow-covered hills 'Till the landslide brought me down Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love? Can the child within my heart rise above? Can I sail through the changing ocean tides? Can I handle the seasons of my life? Well, I've been afraid of changing 'Cause I've built my life around you But time makes you bolder Even children get older And I'm getting older too Well, I've been afraid of changing 'Cause I've built my life around you But time makes you bolder Even children get older And I'm getting older too Oh, I'm getting older too Oh, take my love, take it down Oh, climb a mountain and turn around And if you see my reflection in the snow-covered hills Well the landslide will bring it down And if you see my reflection in the snow-covered hills Well the landslide will bring it down, oh oh The landslide will bring it down
merjet
Danny Boy has been sung and recorded by many. Johnny Cash Elvis Presley Wikipedia: "Various suggestions exist as to the true meaning of "Danny Boy". Some have interpreted the song to be a message from a parent to a son going off to a war or uprising (as suggested by the reference to "pipes calling glen to glen") or leaving as part of the Irish diaspora." Jules Troy
Life it seems to fade away Drifting further everyday Getting lost within myself Nothing matters no one else I have lost the will to live Simply nothing more to give There is nothing more for me Need the end to set me free Things not what they used to be Missing one inside of me Deathly loss this can't be real Cannot stand this hell I feel Emptiness is filling me To the point of agony Growing darkness taking dawn I was me but now, he's gone No one but me can save myself, but its too late Now I can't think, think why I should even try Yesterday seems as though it never existed Death greets me warm, now I will just say goodbye Goodbye Fade to Black Metallica Doesn’t get much sadder than that. Great song though!
Peter
Not sad, but a striving and fulfilling young love . . . difficult at times and not always honest. What do you really want out of life? I emotionally picked my own paragraphs for the lyrics. By golly, this is a beautiful song. Peter “Southern Cross” by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young. Got out of town on a boat goin' to southern islands Sailing a reach before a followin' sea She was makin' for the trades on the outside And the downhill run to Papeete Off the wind on this heading lie the Marquesas We got 80 feet of the waterline, nicely making way In a noisy bar in Avalon I tried to call you But on a midnight watch I realized Why twice you ran away Think about Think about how many times I have fallen Spirits are using me, larger voices callin' What heaven brought you and me cannot be forgotten (I've been around the world) I have been around the world (Lookin') Lookin' for that woman, girl (Who knows she knows) Who knows love can endure And you know it will When you see the Southern Cross for the first time You understand now why you came this way 'Cause the truth you might be runnin' from is so small But it's as big as the promise The promise of a comin' day So I'm sailing for tomorrow, my dreams are a-dyin' And my love is an anchor tied to you Tied with a silver chain I have my ship and all her flags are a-flyin' She is all that I have left, and music is her name Think about Think about how many times I have fallen Spirits are using me, larger voices callin' What heaven brought you and me cannot be forgotten (I've been around the world) I have been around the world (Lookin') Lookin' for that woman, girl Who knows love can endure And you know it will And you know it will So we cheated, and we lied, and we tested And we never failed to fail It was the easiest thing to do You will survive being bested Somebody fine will come along Make me forget about loving you And the Southern Cross

Peter
I remember talking about “24 Hours From Tulsa” by Gene Pitney as being one of the saddest songs I have heard. Here’s another sad, perplexing song. I think the words and music mesh very well. And if you listen to it on You Tube or elsewhere, you will have a hard time getting it out of your head. It is beautiful. Peter Ordinary World by Duran Duran Came in from a rainy Thursday on the avenue Thought I heard you talking softly I turned on the lights, the TV and the radio Still, I can't escape the ghost of you What has happened to it all? Crazy, some'd say Where is the life that I recognize? Gone away But I won't cry for yesterday, there's an ordinary world, Somehow I have to find And, as I try to make my way to the ordinary world, I will learn to survive Passion or coincidence once prompted you to say "Pride will tear us both apart" Well, now, pride's gone out the window cross the rooftops, run away, Left me in the vacuum of my heart What is happening to me? Crazy, some'd say, Where is my friend when I need you most? Gone away But, I won't cry for yesterday, there's an ordinary world, Somehow I have to find And as I try to make my way, to the ordinary world I will learn to survive Papers in the roadside tell of suffering and greed Here today, forgot tomorrow Ooh, here besides the news of holy war and holy need Ours is just a little sorrowed talk (Just blown away...) And I don't cry for yesterday, there's an ordinary world, Somehow I have to find And, as I try to make my way to the ordinary world, I will learn to survive Every world, is my world (I will learn to survive) Any world, is my world (I will learn to survive) Any world, is my world Every world is my world
Peter
What is a really sad song, great lyrics and with a wonderfully light trumpet in the background? “Holding Back the Years,” by Simply Red. I saw he was touring in 2021. He looks older and fuller faced like all of us do (because we can’t hold back the years?). His voice sounded OK in a televised concert. Edit. “If You Don’t Know Me By Now” – Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes is the great original song but Patti Labelle’s quirkier version is good. But Simply Red’s version is the best. Peter
Has this sad song been mentioned? Today, I was watching a “Friends” episode from Jan 28, 1996 called, “The One After the Superbowl.” On it, playing a romantic friend, was Chris Isaak. So, I just listened to one of his hits, and it truly is a very sad song. Give Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game” a listen.

Peter
I just remembered this very sad song from 1968. I Started a Joke by the Bee Gees I started a joke which started the whole world crying But I didn't see that the joke was on me oh no I started to cry which started the whole world laughing Oh If I'd only seen that the joke was on me I looked at the skies running my hands over my eyes And I fell out of bed hurting my head from things that I said 'Till I finally died which started the whole world living Oh if I'd only seen that the joke was on me I looked at the skies running my hands over my eyes And I fell out of bed hurting my head from things that I said 'Till I finally died which started the whole world living Oh if I'd only seen that the joke was on me Oh no that the joke was on me Ooooh Songwriters: Barry Gibb, Robin Gibb, Maurice Gibb
