  1. Ted Cruz has an evangelical problem https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/02/21/ted-cruzs-looming-evangelical-problem/ ---------------- This Washington Post compiled some exit polling numbers and created the article linked above. This is a continuation of the thought that Cruz is finished, from the Foxnews video I posted previously. The article doesn't mention its polling method to acquire these figures, also I'm unsure whether it does, or doesn't paint an accurate picture. Might seem more accurate to compile evangelical numbers from Iowa, NH, and SC--but then again Cruz's message has changed, and his opponent's attacks about how much voters can "Trust Ted" increased as well. Still, these are exit poll numbers, it's not like counting votes in Florida here (sarcasm), so with all that said I found it a bit shocking how lopsided Cruz's demo appears to be. The article has more graphs and goes more in depth. With only an estimate of 30% of NV saying they attend church regularly (2009 numbers, likely still about the same ( http://www.gallup.com/poll/125999/mississippians-go-church-most-vermonters-least.aspx )), Cruz looks to be in trouble.
  2. Video predicts Cruz is finished, as the evangelical vote isn't there for him in NV, and polling indicates Trump will dominate Super Tuesday. 1m 30s in Watch the latest video at video.foxnews.com

  4. Have it, have read Kant. Wasn't planning on it. Something of note: you quoted one sentence in the paragraph above, I quoted the whole paragraph, context difference.
  5. Getting a kick watching Major Garrett right now on CBS News trying to restrain his pro-Trump enthusiasm. Go Trump!
  6. Jeb! is out http://www.politico.com/story/2016/02/breaking-news-jeb-bush-is-suspending-his-presidential-campaign-219564 .. and in other news, Barbara Bush announces she's entering the race. (kidding, but ever hopeful)
  7. *(from prev post) Rand said the essence of Kant's philosophy was "identity negates consciousness"--here she is using the Objectivist axioms of what identity and consciousness is. I see why she did this, she considered Kant's philosophy to be what she called an "anti-concept" as unto Objectivism. And on the face of it, it would seem kind of silly to say that human's don't have consciousness, when they do have consciousness, so why make the assertion. Rand describes the human consciousness as a volitional consciousness while Kant describes it as duty-based consciousness, so Rand was not saying that Kant was negating a human consciousness completely, rather he was negating the volitional consciousness--and this volitional consciousness is specific and necessary to man's nature, that its job is to know reality through sense-perception, and that he is perceiving a knowable universe (existence) that "possesses" identity. Now, to say, "the essence of Kant's philosophy is: consciousness negates identity," as I previously did, but misquoted Rand, is still okay to say if one is being clear on terminology, and saying this from Kant's perspective. In the phrase "consciousness negates identity", consciousness would be mental activity and identity would be Oist existence exists, that things have their own identity (as material cause and attributes). Bearing this in mind, the Rand quote from the previous post still holds: ..and "consciousness negates identity" is the one I use as the essence to Kant's philosophy.
  8. "VIDEO: THIS is why Cruz and Rubio didn’t attempt to have a court decide their eligibility in the past. They would have been ruled ineligible!" http://powderedwigsociety.com/eligibility-of-cruz-and-rubio/# The crux of the argument hinges on determinism around the 6m mark, not very Oist, posted here as it came from the Trump camp as a retweet on Twitter.
  9. Nope, no need to list them, you've answered my question. Was curious if you had a single, personally held belief about the validity of the senses. (Mine is Objectivism's.) Rand once told Peikoff that the essence of Kant's philosophy is "consciousness negates identity." *see next post. I found an article that is related to this thread: http://enlightenment.supersaturated.com/objectivity/walsh1/ This is a quotation from Rand:
  10. If this claim "is not, generally, valid", then what is?
  11. Scarborough incorrectly typed the results: Trump 36 Rubio 19 Cruz 18 Bush 10 Kasich 10 Carson 6 http://media.wix.com/ugd/3bebb2_f9d8e10c8831404e9ea2f1af759d1426.pdf
  12. I understood this from the first post. BIA activity, Native American activism, and Native American awareness was going on around the time the book was released. Humanizing efforts were common around the time as part of a larger initiative, and some were valid, some invalid, some in between those extremes. The inference I drew lay beyond this, as related to my previous post, but if there wasn't one, as I said I wasn't worried about it
  13. Caught an inference there, but not worried about it otherwise. edit: "it" here is the inference.. not the book or memory..
  14. Sounds acceptable, which means we just agreed on something. That can't be right.
  15. GR was present in several warlike Native American tribes (nations) where aggression was valued and was the expected behavior amongst their own tribal members. These people were treating each other as they expected to be treated and considered the behavior "good", that they were strong, righteous, powerful, just, etc. Many of these tribes had a sophisticated culture and belief system, and would not be what I would call "savages". They valued aggression, and treated each other in that way, amongst their own tribal members.
  16. At this point, are you expecting me to accept your statement as true and argue against it? Barf.
  17. Bit of a fact here... GR etymologically predates christianity..
  18. Trump's official reply: My take? Someone needs to remind the pope the reformation happened.
