  1. I agree. He has no musical "ear" if he doesn't like her version. Thanks again for clueing me in. I didn't like the whiney sound present in the Guns N' Roses version, though the first few times didn't grate on me.
  2. Thanks Michael that is an excellent version and I don’t agree with the following at all. I like it that Sheryl Crowe shies away from over doing the lyrics, “Where do we go . . . where do we go now.” Ha. It was from the movie “Big Daddy.” Peter THAT WAS A BAD IDEA: SHERYL CROW COVERING SWEET CHILD O’ MINE From Audioeclectica Back in 1999, on the soundtrack and in the movie to the Adam Sandler film Big Daddy, something truly wrong happened. There was an atrocious cover of a song that should have never been allowed to be released. Sheryl Crow’s version of the Guns N Roses classic “Sweet Child O’ Mine.” I still remember hearing it in the movie and thinking this was terrible, and guess what, it still is. Her version was originally released as a bonus track on her third album. And even more interestingly, the recording not only won her a Grammy but, it was also produced by Rick Rubin. Over the years, Crow’s version has been regarded as one of the worst cover songs ever, and rightfully so. Despite all the negativity towards it though, it became somewhat of a hit in areas like Australia, Canada, Iceland and the U.K. I still want to know who thought this would be a good idea and who approved it to be in the movie.
  3. I see I may be exceeded the, ‘oh not another one from him’ range but here is a very sad song. “All alone am I” by Brenda Lee. All alone am I ever since your goodbye All alone with just the beat of my heart People all around but I don't hear a sound Just the lonely beating of my heart . . . .
  4. Maybe I will rewatch all "The Terminator" movie variants again.
  5. Real Clear's latest two polls showed Trump with a 3 to 5 point lead over Biden in 2024. edit. And no other republican "possible contender" is near President Trump in popularity . . . by a long shot. I think DeSantos was the closest.
  6. I got a fund raising letter from MAGA in my email and it stated Trump had a three point lead over Biden for the election in 2024. I think I will check out a few polling sites.
  7. Follow your doctor's advice about vaccines. There are still a few places, usually associated with medicine, that require masking. Hopefully, "herd immunity" is a factor, because Covid cases *and news* seem to be declining. And I think I mentioned that I got three Pfizer shots at the VA at three different times, but without saying much they did not question my decision to NOT get a fourth shot, though I got the flu shot at that time. I occasionally see a person wearing a mask at places like a drug store, but that is getting rarer. A lot of harm was done to the world, including to China. I still haven't bought Chinese takeout since 2020.
  8. From The CDC: By following the recommended schedule and fully immunizing your child by 2 years of age, your child should be protected against 14 vaccine preventable diseases. Between 12 and 23 months of age, your child receives the following vaccines to continue developing immunity from potentially harmful diseases: Chickenpox (Varicella) Diphtheria, tetanus, and whooping cough (pertussis) (DTaP) Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) Measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) Polio (IPV) (between 6 through 18 months) Pneumococcal (PCV) Hepatitis A (HepA) Hepatitis B (HepB) Additionally, children should receive flu vaccination every flu season.
  9. From CDC: About COVID-19 Vaccines COVID-19 vaccines available in the United States are effective at protecting people from getting seriously ill, being hospitalized, and dying. As with other vaccine-preventable diseases, you are protected best from COVID-19 when you stay up to date with the recommended vaccinations, including recommended boosters. Four COVID-19 vaccines are approved or authorized in the United States: Pfizer-BioNTech Moderna Novavax Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen (J&J/Janssen) (CDC recommends that the J&J/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine only be considered in certain situations, due to safety concerns.) From The AMA Coronavirus Vaccines SARS-CoV-2 vaccines manufactured by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna became the first two COVID-19 vaccines approved in the United States. Both vaccines have been shown to be safe and effective against SARS-CoV-2 infection or severe COVID-19 outcomes. The AMA recognizes the critical importance of scientific integrity, transparency and public trust in the fight to contain the global spread of COVID-19. American Medical Association vaccines resources for physicians include evidence-based messaging guidance and best practices for consideration in external communications on COVID-19 vaccine topics and more. From The Mayo Clinic: A COVID-19 vaccine might: Protect you from getting COVID-19 Prevent you from becoming seriously ill, becoming hospitalized or dying due to COVID-19 Limit the spread of COVID-19. end quotes And what does your doctor, local hospital, clinic recommend?
  10. I got the vax. I have not gotten Covid. Family members got vaxes. One still got Covid. One. Period.
  11. I found a couple of old letters that mention Chris. Peter The Saintly Chris Grieb wrote: Paul Ryan spoke at TAS commemoration of Ayn Rand's 100th birthday. He also has his interns read Atlas Shrugged. Also on the plus side he knows how to pronounce Ayn Rand's first name unlike Ron Paul. On the minus side he describes himself as Roman Catholic. end quote AND Barbara Branden has just posted a reply to a topic that you have subscribed to titled "How could Ayn rand smoke?" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Peter Taylor: "Many fans of Ayn Rand may know that she died from smoking related disease." It's not particularly relevant to this discussion, but although Rand had lung cancer in the 70s, it did not recur after her surgery. She died of congestive heart failure. However, as someone who was foolish enough to smoke for many years, I know, as every smoker knows, that we all twisted our brains into pretzels in order to avoid facing the fact that cigarettes might very well kill us. Yes, in the early 60s, when Rand said there was no poof that smoking caused cancer, it was true that there was no final, definitive, absolute, syllogistic, incontrovertible, undeniable, non-statistical, overwhelming proof. But we knew. We all knew, including Ayn Rand. With regard to any other issue, had we had the amount of evidence we had about the danger of smoking, we would have considered it more than enough evidence for us to act upon. Barbara Chris Grieb has just posted a reply to a topic that you have subscribed to titled "How could Ayn rand smoke?". ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Since it was Ayn Rand she probably lit the cigarette by snapping her fingers.
  12. Don't men need to wear headgear and dresses over there like those other guys?
  13. I would say cactus and roses are Maga but water lilies are liberal.
  14. So sad. I have mentioned this before but one of the saddest songs I have ever heard is Engineers singing, "Home." Strange name but you can't get it out of your head, so don't listen to it.
  15. I don't think I have heard that version. I only know Guns N' Roses' version sung by Axel? Rose.
  16. "Sweet Child of Mine." Damn, that is good.
  17. From Wikipedia, about Madam Secretary. Premise[edit] The first five seasons of Madam Secretary explore Elizabeth McCord's life as the determined United States Secretary of State. She drives international diplomacy, battles office politics, and circumvents protocol if needed as she negotiates worldwide issues. The show also focuses on the characters' personal lives. At the end of the fifth season, McCord announces that she will run for president. As the sixth season begins, the audience learns that she has won the election, and the remainder of the series follows her as America's first female president.
  18. Of course, but didn't she become President before the show was over? I seem to remember that.
  19. tmj wrote: ". . . and disseminating information on national defense to a foreign power is a capital offense. end quote Would Joe simply pardon Hunter?
  20. Interesting. A reboot of "Madam President?" Tia Leone played it on TV, the first time around. But who could possibly play Kamala? Peter From Newsweek: Trump Releases What He Plans to Do if He Wins 2024 Election . . . "Our country is being poisoned from within by the drugs and all of the other crime that's taken place. The drug cartels are waging war in America, and it's now time for America to wage war on the cartels," Trump said in a January 5 video. "In this war, Joe Biden has sided against the United States and with the cartels," he continued. "Biden's open border policies are a deadly betrayal of our nation. When I am president, it will be the policy of the U.S. to take down the cartels." Trump also said he would order the Defense Department to use special forces to "inflict maximum damage on cartel leadership, infrastructure and operations" and declare those groups as foreign terrorist organizations.
  21. It was mentioned on Fox yesterday, but without any proof . . . as of yet, that the secret documents found at various Biden hangouts may have been for the use of the Chinese Communist Party. And they were supplied by Hunter Biden who was rewarded with millions of dollars.
  22. I think her name is Sheryl on The Five? and she said something interesting about MLK day. She called it "King Day." I think I will start addressing it as King Day too, instead of saying his whole name. Have a nice King Day.
