On this day in 1836, Lt. Col William Barrett Travis and fellow defenders of the Alamo, after a sustained artillery barrage of 24 hours, received the ultimatum, surrender or die. The rest of the story is a matter of Texas history and Texan pride. Thirteen days of glory. The Alamo fell on March 6, 1836.

Since Trump took office both my pipeline stocks, one associated with the Dakota project, the other with Keystone, have steadily increased in value & continue to pay a 9 & 10% tax free quarterly dividend.
I anxiously await the Administration's tax reduction/reform...that should create an economic orgasm. -J

About Jerry: My mom told me her encounter with him back in the the 50's or 60's, while staying at the Fountainbleu Hotel in Miami Beach with my Dad. She said she saw him coming down some stairs and shouted out "Hi Jerry". He looked at her and angrily said "It's Mr. Lewis". Mom never liked him after that. --J

Shot gun? Check. Other small arms and ammo? Check. Battery operated radio and cell phone? Check. One thing that worries me is that modern houses have glass windows that can easily be broken. Rush was advertising a security system that can run on batteries in an emergency but I doubt I will get one and rely on my ears and someone being home most of the time in stead.
May the gods be with you on this very warm, wet and windy Sunday. (68 at noon. More rain around 3.) Today my wife drove into our driveway, parked her car, and then about twenty minutes later a hundred pound pine branch fell across the entire driveway.
Many people who own firearms also prepare for catastrophe. Remember that movie, “2012” that used the Mayan calendar to predict the election of Donald Trump? joke. They predicted a catastrophe not a “restart” or a “jump start” of America. I am still feeling very optimistic with recount, electoral college day, tomorrow . Laissez Faire-ish, starting Jan. 20th?
I wonder if anyone has a latter day ark available. Maybe the Latter Day Saints since they keep one year of food on hand and habitually eat and restock their supplies. Peanut butter and crackers, unopened and stored separately, keep well for a year. I keep Jif creamy and saltines on hand as well as other canned goods and that was easily done. I change my dozen water bottles every six months, and if we have a hurricane or blizzard coming I store other supplies too.
Peter
I would also include a supply of water for drinking, cleaning & cooking. How much would depend on the # of people in the domicile and the length of time you believe you will need it.

Dr. Henry Heimlich, who invented Heimlich maneuver has died.
About 35 years ago I used this maneuver on a choking person and it brought up the obstruction. It was really Heimlich who saved the man, not me.

Yes, and a rest can help anyone to better place their shots. Too bad the the grouping was not shown. Nonetheless It was her concentration that caught my eye.
P.S. I'd also say she handled that bolt with assuredness.

I'm amazed at the concentration employed by this youngster firing a rifle. Check out the video:

I just saw an interview between Paul Ryan and Sean Hannity.
Sean raised the trillion dollar infrastructure plans and asked where the money is going to come from.
Ryan said public-private partnerships. In other words, some of it will come from the government and some from private companies, all done on a case-by-case project basis.
Everybody has been so acclimated to government corruption, they automatically think infrastructure cost means boondoggle and pork and some even think Trump doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground about government finance.
Well how does public-private partnerships sound? They work.
Since Ryan kept talking about "leveraged" private money, I presume he is talking about a lot of the funds overseas that might get tax concessions if they are repatriated and invested in infrastructure.
To make this idea more concrete, in a hypothetical as I see it, Factory X needs a better bridge on a public road to get more product rolling. The traffic bottlenecks are killing delivery and there are no other routes. Under the old boondoggle way, the factory owner would have to invest heavily in bribes and covering those bribes up (i.e., lobbying) in order to get funding for the bridge overhaul added as a pork rider on some congressional bill or other.
In the "leveraged" private money model, some money from the government will go to that bridge, but the factory will pay for the rest, bringing its funds for this from overseas to boot at lower tax, and maybe even oversee the construction. That will end up being a hell of a lot cheaper in the end for everyone. Especially the company that can deliver more product after the bridge overhaul is finished and make a lot more money.
Oh... and there's this. The bridge overhaul will be done right because the factory will not want its product and trucks falling into the damn river. Nor will it want to overhaul the bridge again in a couple of years. The local community will benefit with a great bridge almost as an afterthought.
Here's the relevant part of the interview.
Ryan seems pleased as punch with Trump and it does not look like ass-kissing.
Michael
Ryan seemed sincere and straight up with Hannity, whose questions covered a myriad of issues. Looks like the Republic may be saved. --J

I usually don't eat past 6 PM. Prior to that it can be meat, fish, eggs, vegetables and nuts. For drinks it's green or dandelion tea and filtered water. I feel good and my weight remains the same, 34 waist....no complaints here. ---J
