FreedomFest is an annual festival where "free minds meet" to celebrate "great books, great ideas, and great thinkers" in an open-minded society. It is independent, non-partisan, and not affiliated with any organization or think tank. Founded and produced by Mark Skousen since 2002, FreedomFest invites the "best and the brightest" from around the world to talk, strategize, socialize, and celebrate liberty. http://www.freedomfest.com
  3. I fixed this video so it is watchable. Its a bit long though so I didn't watch it, just made the html work. The trick is to change html off to html auto line break mode when posting. kat
  4. I'm glad to see that the Atlas Shrugged movie is moving forward. Will they be filming them all at once? I think they did that with Lord of the Rings. I want to see Atlas Shrugged as a movie and I think it will do fine at the box office as an independent film. As long as they don't turn it into a musical or cartoon it with a bunch of CGI it should be fine. Kat
  5. In our congressional district we have a nice young Tea Party endorsed candidate named Joel Pollack running against Jan Schakowsky, one of the most liberal members of Congress. Spread the word and give Joel a donation if you can. Check out his website at http://www.pollakforcongress.com Here is his song he perfomed at the Chicago Tea Party on April 15th that Michael and I attended. <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>.... and a video of him as a student causing Barney Frank to get his panties in a bunch and talking to Greta. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

    From: Walk for Autism

April is Autism Awareness Month. On Friday, April 2, 2010 (Autism Awareness Day) I joined a group from Autism Speaks on the NBC morning news to do the Friday dance with weatherman Andy Avilos and friends. Although you I'm in back and you can’t see my face or my wonderful attempt at doing the limbo under the Autism Speaks banner, I’m on TV doing the Friday dance! Please support our family as we raise funds for a very worthy organization that is doing very important work helping families, promoting awareness and funding critical research. The walk takes place on Saturday, May 15 and is a fairly short 5K walk (~ 3 miles) around Soldier Field in Chicago. There will be lots of family friendly activities going on and Rashied Davis of the Chicago Bears will be there also. As you may know, my son Sean is affected by autism. He faces many challenges and is working hard to overcome them. We don’t know if he will ever be able to live independently. Hopefully, a cure will be found in his lifetime. With your support, he and others like him may be able to overcome this mysterious condition and lead normal lives. This walk is an opportunity for you to be part of this exciting quest to cure, or at least treat, those afflicted with autism. Please consider supporting our team with a donation! http://www.walknowforautismspeaks.org/chicago/katdaddy9 Thanks so much! Kat Source: Walk for Autism

  11. As much as I dislike bottled water and rap I ran across this commercial on youtube and I thought it was so cute. Check it out.
  12. I think Michael Jackson was a great talent and am saddened by his untimely death. He was like Peter Pan, the little boy who could fly and never wanted to grow up. I grew up watching the Jackson 5 Saturday morning cartoon show and my sister was a big fan (I was more into The Osmonds as a kid). When Thriller came out, I was a teenager and Michael was just so over the top cool you had to love him... The music, the moves, the bling... he had it all going on. And he could still fly, or at least moonwalk. Everyone wanted to moonwalk. Michael was cool. Amazingly cool. We may never know what really happened to Michael. but I was watching Geraldo and he thinks Michael's death was mighty suspicious. I agree. Things got really strange in the last few years for him and he wanted to do a final concert series. Originally, he was to do ten shows and it somehow turned into 50 when the papers were drawn up. He was 5'11" and weighed 112 pounds (anorexic?) and addicted to pain meds and so was very fragile both physically and mentally. The promoters had taken out a huge life insurance policy for tens of millions of dollars on Michael, and considering his state and the likelihood that many shows would be cancelled as well as his financial troubles, it does seem suspicious. There will always be a big question mark around Michael's life and death. May he rest in peace anyway. Kat
  13. Happy Birthday, Michael! love, Kitten
  14. WTF??!!?? Pro-pot propaganda in a forum created to help get people away from drugs and drinking... Hey, why don't we throw an all you can eat, drink, smoke, and snort kegger party financed with payday loans as well? Sheesh! This is smelling stinky enough for the garbage pile. We don't promote recreational drugs in an addiction forum. Too many lives have been ruined by addiction. Potheads are addicts. It is hard enough keeping kids off drugs as it is. Imagine if it were legal. Pro-pot propaganda undermines our efforts in supporting people who want to recover, so please keep it off Objectivist Living. Kat
  15. Happy Birthday Barbara!!! Isn't is nice to be 20 for the fourth time? Best birthday wishes and love, Kat and Michael
  16. Thanks for the toons. To make them display, you just put the url in img between /img tags
  17. The upgrade is now complete. Invision disabled personal messaging on boards until they upgraded because of a spam problem. Basically, spammers figured out a way to send a lot of messages out at once. Hopefully, nobody on OL was spammed, and if so please let me know. I am now in the process of doing some housekeeping as far as removing dead or spammy links from the forum and the blogs. If you see something, say something. I've put in a ticket at Invision to see if there is an easier way to remove trackbacks from blogs automatically. That is where the spammers hide their links and I don't want outgoing links to those types of sites. I've spend hours deleting stuff today and it feels like I haven't made a dent in it. Kat
  18. Unfortunately, the Bidinotto blog is no more. His host, Journalspace, went down and all the posts are gone. Rather than having hundreds of links going to a page that says "Hello World" I have removed the links to the blog and took out the rss feeds that had no comments. Hopefully, he will start blogging again, but for now he freelancing as Robert the Writer. Econot is still up and he has written in the Atlasphere also. Kat
