Here's a guy, John McEntee, who was trusted with huge responsibilities in the last year of Trump's term -- preparing for the second term and doing his level best to implement Trump's wishes as Director of the Office of Presidential Personnel. In this Breitbart interview he answers questions on lessons learned, general plans in place for staffing in 2025, insights and tips for activists, enthusiasts and general MAGA stalwarts. It looks like McEntee will be back for a second interview. I hope he gets prodded for more details of the plan to "radically reshape the federal government," as reported by Axios upthread. It wouldn't take us long to amass a hoard of rituals and incantations to the weather 'gods' ... What the ancestors seem to have learned is that energy-in is energy-out. And if you want a really hot fire, you have to work smart. And if you want to control and direct your fire, you have to learn some rule-of-thumb physics. Fuel, Oxygen, Heat are essentials. Containing the heat within a vessel or enclosure allows a kind of concentration. [aside: the first smallest-scale 'climate' or 'weather' zone early humans established was maybe within the home. Dry and warm is one of those basics ... /aside] Fast-forward past the first primitive fireboxes and ovens, past the discovery of clay's special properties, past kilns, and end up at the first smelting of metals. How was the energy concentrated in one place to raise temperatures high enough to melt ores, whether gold, lead, silver, copper? Bellows, exhaust control, compressed air? Not to get into the chemical processes that came under human comprehension. So, each successive leap forward in abilities to control and direct heat were like a ratchet. From 'primitive' Bronze Age to fine Roman steel, the details, kinks and best practices became part of human engineering. I'll skip the history of cloud-seeding and the entire hypothesis of "added energy/slower loss of energy" in the climate system -- which we know informally as global warming. As a generality bordering on cliché, I'd say "We know how to warm a given home efficiently." We know the trade-offs, the incurred costs and the operating costs for our own environments. But I won't get into that. What are the essential elements of a storm on Earth? How to get from fire to 'weather' or even to 'weather control'? Perhaps through thinking through how a fire is like a storm by analogy or comparison. Each storm on Earth has necessary components to begin. With fire it's fuel, oxygen, heat. With storms it's air pressure, moisture and heat differentials. Which physical or chemical trigger causes a fire to be born? Can this be likened to the birth of a storm? Where do we find "boundary" conditions for a fire, and where do we look for boundary conditions for a storm to emerge? In a jumble in my mind are a few things I feel I know offhand. When a high pressure air mass that is relatively 'dry' meets a cold 'front,' with both on the move, there is a kind of friction, the kind of friction that produces energy. Similar in a stretched way to the 'friction' of a flint, or the concentrated heat that triggers combustion and sustains a fire. Energy is what is necessary for a fire-storm and a weather-storm. Now I'll go on my forty minute bike ride and then consult some reference works, and then return to talk off the top of my head before editing. Heat energy from the Sun. Wind energy, the energy of air pressures, electrical energy, gravitation, torsion of the earth's atmosphere. How a hurricane takes shape. How tropical cyclones form in the first place.

I've shared a few of the Russian English-language video accounts that I follow on YouTube. Each has been registering the shock of mobilization, each in their own way. Even those resolutely apolitical or avoidant of any sensitive topic have gravely explained ''what it means" ... while the facts of the departures have become subjects of scorn, anger and aggressive rhetoric on the federal television channels. No carve-outs for the 'special 100' documents flagged by the DOJ as dealing with national security. She intended to appoint a Special Master and charged the parties with providing nominees. Cannon then dealt with a DOJ motion for a partial stay pending appeal. She denied that motion -- and then set up the Special Master and the parties with a preliminary schedule as a "case management plan." Then, the USA/DOJ moved in her court for a partial stay -- arguing that any marked documents needed to be excluded and that inter-agency review must proceed. Cannon denied the motion and the DOJ filed a motion with the Circuit Court that supervises her district. The DOJ motion was immediately granted by the 11th Circuit Court, the carve-out was restored, so the DOJ along with "national security" quangos now continues its investigation using those documents. Cannon immediately updated/deleted the carve-out language from her orders and ... basically left the Special Master to do the work assigned. The "case management plan" is speedy. Dearie may well have been happy that the 11th Circuit by its own explicit legal reasoning reached the same conclusion about the 100-odd set-aside 'marked classified' documents as he did. But he is still charged by Judge Cannon to obey her orders -- which the docket today shows were updated in response to the granting of a partial stay by the 11th. The most important of Cannon's orders today concerned an updated "Case Management Plan" for the other ~11,000 items to be examined for exclusion or one of two kinds of privilege or/and type of personal/presidential document or record or item. Elsewhere, on the topic of 'marked classified' but hey-ho, the marking is deceptive ... The usual suspects with full-blown you know what have seized on a small segment from Sean Hannity's interview with President Trump that went out last night on FoxNews. -- there might be an issue under there -- that instantly-declassified documents do/do not require any formal procedure following that executive decision. Trump may be proved entirely right to insist on his powers. I would have insisted on a big rubber DE-CLASSIFIED stamp somewhere between the original subpoena and the lawyerly declaration that everything that belonged to the government had been returned after a careful inventory. But I also would be glad that my lawyers don't consider my TV talking to be sworn testimony. As before, Cannon does not mess around ...

What I love about the Mearsheimer wing of realism is that it is logical and amoral -- or mostly bereft of active moralism. Meaning Mearsheimer-associated realists leave the side-taking to other analysts and philosophers of power. In theory, anyways. But then, Tracey probably doesn't consider himself among august political scientists like the Mearsheimer wing or leaders at think-tanker institutes and policy shops. I'd say the amoral realist wing is as prone to predictions as any other great wonk wing, and that a test of a realist prediction is relatively easy to accomplish. It's hard to always know, on the other hand, if what you predict is what you wish to come true. As in any contested space of discussion, there are lesser and greater other sides or wings one could compare, contrast and consult for a fuller range of views.
