  1. I miss Adam. We rarely saw eye to eye, but we were somehow on the side of 'getting to the bottom of it all' ...
  2. Michael, in re a possible or looming succession crisis in Brasilia, I've been keeping an eye on Brazilian Portuguese-language media every couple of days. I had a question requiring your advice. About video sources, mainly. Background: As long as I am able to read subtitles, I might get 80% of Spanish-language video and audio; my bag of French/Latin/Italian/Spanish vocabulary helps me to grok Portuquese subtitles, and I have somehow absorbed the most obvious roles of Portuguese articles and verb endings. The language as written is not a mystery and patterns can become absorbed. If I was prolix I might yammer on about my surprise at how much Romanian I can read now. Not much at all ... Query: Which outlets of video news in the country and on Brazil actualities are even half reliable with reporting? Same query but recast: what should we be watching out of Brazil? I'm thinking that biases and sensationalism and blind-spots and activism-masquerading-as-journalism can be detected and scraped off, given our understanding of persuasion. The big networks seem obviously in with 'constitutionalism' a la Mike Pence.. Unrelated: While doing my rounds, came across a video of the Mexican Weather Woman Big Caboose. I'm very much a gay man of 64 with a lush white beard and lifelong interest in wild, psychotic weather, so ordinarily weather, storms, hellish tornado outbreaks and so on I take raw. Local, regional, national weather comes via the talented and beautiful meteorologist Kristi Gordon.* I do not believe there are LGBTQI equivalents of Big Caboose Weather -- at least not of equal potency and deadpan humour.** Forgive Ozzy Man. He may sound like a meth-head selling Sham Wow, but has the best drunk walk compilations of all time. **
  3. There is a video circulating that is apparently an interview between OAN journalist (and Trump lawyer on alternating days) Christina Bobb. I'll post a link when I find it on the OAN site. It's not clear when the exchange between part-time employee and employer happened. This is an announcement on Truth Social -- tomorrow, President Trump will be making a major announcement. https://truthsocial.com/users/realDonaldTrump/statuses/109509493826788889
  4. https://chat.openai.com/chat can do better than that. No matter who owns it. Eg, this news shocked me, and I thank Michael for bringing it up for research. ChatGPT Michael rewrote: Here is a revised version of the two paragraphs, with corrections made to the grammar and sentence structure: "The employees at Twitter openly discussed blacklisting the term "kraken" among themselves and proceeded to do so extensively. However, they soon realized that "kraken" was also the name of a popular cryptocurrency exchange, which caused them some difficulty. Despite this setback, they continued to do their best to prevent the use of the term "kraken" in a political context on Twitter." I made several changes to the original text to improve the grammar and clarity of the sentences. In the first sentence, I changed the word "dorks" to "employees" to make the language more professional and respectful. In the second sentence, I changed the word "left" to "extensively" to provide more information about the extent of the blacklisting, and I added the word "However" at the beginning of the sentence to indicate a contrast with the previous sentence. In the third sentence, I changed the phrase "That was" to "which caused" to better connect the clause to the rest of the sentence, and I added the word "popular" before "cryptocurrency exchange" to provide more information about the exchange. I also changed the word "even so" to "despite" to create a smoother transition between the third and fourth sentences. These changes should make the text more grammatically correct and easier to understand. Let me know if you have any other questions or if you need further assistance. I will be down the TwitterFiles rabbithole for hours, days and weeks. It's intensely interesting to me how exactly "kraken" was used to suppress and/or extinguish discussion of the Kraken lawsuits -- and not just the lawsuits. What was pushed out of the the light at the top of our 'trending' and push notifications on Twitter? Thanks for the boom! For those who wonder what Sidney Powell herself is up to, you will know that she was sanctioned something like 175 billion dollars for her bar crimes. But she ain't having none of it. She does admit to a kind of partial mistake, but not really. This is the audio-only version of the tribunal that fixed its all seeing eye on her and L Lin Wood. It is an 'appeals' court, but we know what that means, given Judge Cannon's collusion. It's a circuit court, for Rand's sake. Powell begins her spirited defense at around 1:55:00; she appears before a trio named Boggs, Kethledge and White. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGpT5Z767Gc [The user who surreptitiously copied the otherwise-unavailable stream from the tribunal has made it playable only on YouTube. I've downloaded an MP3 sound file version of the event.] I don't know whether to comment on this next bit here, or to break it out into a blog post:

      William,

I've been messing with this for almost a week.

      It's fantastic.

So far I have asked it for recipes, poetry and examples of poetic devices (zeugma and so on), scripting advice for Autohotkey (it not only gave me the correct solution to what I wanted, it gave me alternatives), the essential traits of Ayn Rand heroes (they were basic, but all correct), different aspects of story (narrative) and neurochemicals, a friend of mine even got it to write a children's story about a blues guitar playing Rottweiller named Max.

      Guess what?

No political agendas in results. No corporate agendas shoved down your throat. At least so far.

      I hope it replaces Google.

Elon Musk (the owner of the profit part of Open AI--the source of ChatGPT) is a Leonardo da Vinci character.

btw - Bing has come out and said they are currently integrating their search engine with GPT AI technology.

      Michael

  10. I made the mistake of taking the quote "entity thinking" too literally, looking for an instance where Rand recorded the phrase in published text, letter, or speech. You did not take the quote too literally and Rand did use that exact phrase several times. I'll have to dig to find it, but it's out there. Cool. I discovered some material so far that helps me figure out what Rand meant by "entity," and that opened up a research niche as well. As you say, not a priority. Perhaps I'll ask in another forum of Objectivist wonks. Sometimes it's just a matter of keeping notes for followup later. I would like to see what she has to say on either side of the quote "entity thinking." When priorities allow, I'll dig in ITOE. "Do you understand Rand's idea of "entity thinking"? Not yet!

  13. Duped! [Cannon's full docket at Court Listener: https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/64911367/trump-v-united-states/?filed_after=&filed_before=&entry_gte=&entry_lte=&order_by=desc] That "This latest bullshit" was the 11th Circuit hearing oral arguments. Succeeded by their evaluation ... the reasoning of the court during arguments could then only be gleaned by their question. Thus the pendency of the case. It was still 'up in the air' ... Then, another step after protracted step-by-step evaluation. A ruling. The plaintiff had a week from the ruling to ask for an emergency appeal to the United States Supreme Court. Today marks the end of that seven-day window before the order takes effect over the district court. In other words, today is the day that the 11th Circuit's ruling was made formal. Trump did not appeal. What does that mean? Inquiring objectivist minds want to know. Meanwhile, the first headlines are up. Here's Ground.news' breaking coverage. And the Beast of all Beasts: Special Master’s Review in Trump Case Ends as Appeal Court’s Ruling Takes Effect - The New York Times WWW.NYTIMES.COM A federal judge in Florida had shocked experts by intervening after the F.B.I. seized sensitive files from the former president’s residence and club. 17. Two emdashes, one comma. Looks like it could be a sentence. But it ain't. We can try to Hemingway it by eye or AI. I'll try the deepfake chat remix with "Summarize:". Then maybe "Expand this à la OLer Taylor." I'd settle for a clinical abridgement. If I had to pick, I'd say letting Milo join your entourage has upsides and downsides. Snooker!

  20. I made the mistake of taking the quote "entity thinking" too literally, looking for an instance where Rand recorded the phrase in published text, letter, or speech. Can we have another search hint or pointer for "look it up," please? I believe. The entity that is me thinks "vigorous language" is fun to compose, if not always as effective as hoped in communication. It may depend on the Randian notion of precision.
  21. "this documentary Died Suddenly is a conspiracy all these embalmers and doctors clearly got together to lie about this stuff happening to trick people into not getting vaccinated" I haven't heard from embalmers outside the fan club until now, though critical evaluations have been offered by folks in the the medical arts, including pathologists. The "could there be alternative explanations?" option was not explored in pre-production, perhaps. Considering Stew Peters' last film about snake-venom explaining spike-protein ravages is not cited in Died Suddenly, it could be argued Stew doesn't consult with himself ... Science Based Medicine blog has a guest artist today, no doubt a predator-class operative. It should be a breeze for objectivists here to tear its observations and arguments to pieces. A clot too far: An embalmer dissects antivax misinformation about blood clots in Died Suddenly SCIENCEBASEDMEDICINE.ORG Two weeks ago, COVID-19 conspiracy theorist Stew Peters released an antivax pseudodocumentary, Died Suddenly, whose main claim is that COVID-19 vaccines... 22. When asked during his 2015-16 campaign Trump repeatedly said he would release his tax returns (as Obama/Biden had done and Biden/Harris have done), with conditions, though his answers have varied over time. "Dirt" came out during Trump casino litigation and SEC investigations. Returns were included in discovery and showed years with zero income tax paid. Later on, the New York Times published two stories with details of varied schemes. Illegal, not necessarily. Canny, maybe. Transparent to the public, anything but. I don't know how to separate out hurt from hyperbole from misleading bullshit in this outraged-victim reaction on Truth. Trump v. United States is pending in the 11th Circuit after the oral hearing yesterday. They may decide in his favour, they may not. Opinion is running hot, but nobody really has perfect insight. If he wins in the circuit, DOJ will appeal and Special Master Dearie will continue to work under the authority of Judge Cannon's order -- until and unless the Supremes shut it down. Depending on how many dollars and lawyers pile on, Dearie's work may end in January/February. If DOJ wins at the circuit, depending on the details (Remand for Dismissal or plain old vacate), that might be that. If the 11th vacates, that will end Judge Cannon's oversight right there. The 11th Circuit unanimously ruled against the former president in the past hour. Does it "end Judge Cannon's oversight right there"? I am not 100% sure. No reaction from the plaintiff lawyers yet. It could be that an appeal could 'stay the vacation.' The predator class spins out the mystery ...
