This dude needs a little polish in stumping...

Phil Davison, councilman in Minerva, Ohio, seeking Republican nomination for Stark County Treasurer.

I don't know if he got the nomination, but I don't think I would let a dude like that near my own checking account.

Lord knows he wants the treasurer job badly enough, though.

I want to make a quip, several in fact, but my mind is a blank. I can't even think of something with "polish" to tie up the post nicely with the title.

I'm still in awe...

Update from The Blaze

"CANTON, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio politician looking for a promotion has become a YouTube sensation with his double-fisted pitch to GOP leaders.

Minerva Village Councilman Phil Davison’s fiery six-minute appeal to Republican leaders in Canton and Stark County was not successful: He lost out on the nomination for county treasurer.

Davison, pacing back and forth and shouting at times, said his nomination would send a message to Democrats that “I’m coming. Both barrels. Guns loaded.”

Video of his speech Wednesday was posted on YouTube, where it got more than 70,000 views, and spread on other sites.

Davison tells The Repository of Canton that interest in the speech has “spiraled out of control” and that he’s been busy responding to interview requests.

Blaze editor’s note: I‘m still waiting for the influx of remix and autotune versions of Phil Davison’s rant! In the meantime here is Phil talking to KCLB-FM:"

I’m still not buying. I think this guy’s angling for a reality TV spot, ala the balloon boy stunt. He’s too much like the Chris Farley character. Of course if he blows his brains out in the next couple days I’ll be proved absolutely wrong. If this is for real there’s a good chance of that.

> the speech has “spiraled out of control”

I wouldn't laugh at it too much if you do something similar yourself.

Or tolerate it in silence without speaking out.

This guy comes across as just as ludicrous to outsiders as many of the people on this board who start calling each other or their opponents within their own movement dishonest or evaders or power-lusters or sycophants to one group (ARI? Solop? Noodlefooders?) or another.

Many of the hair trigger people on this board seem just as consumed by rage and hostility and belligerence once a thread spins out of control or when a red flag (the name of Peikoff or Perigo or Valliant or other internal 'demons') is mentioned.

It's the same thing over on the ARI-allied side when a red flag (the name of Kelley or Branden) is mentioned.

The sign of an immature mind is this guy - with his consuming choler and emotionalism - or anyone who attacks the man rather the idea.

This fella had me laughing out loud. He said he would not apologize for his tone. From what I gather he was asking the powers that be in the party to nominate him, so it was basically a job interview. Would anyone expect to land any position with that behavior. I don't think so. He needs a little bit of polishing up before he runs for public office again. I suggest Toastmasters and anger management ... a taking and chill pill. A big one.
