Michael Stuart Kelly
Write-Your-Own Obama Speechby Benjamin SarlinThe Daily BeastJune 4, 2009John Enright just posted this story on his Facebook "shared thoughts" thingie (Facebook's answer to Twitter). I decided to take a look. It was incredibly perceptive. From the article:How does Obama keep up his hot streak of speeches? The Daily Beast analyzed his most famous speeches to crack the code behind the president's rhetoric. Our step-by-step guide for turning even the most divisive debates into an inspiring call for unity.President Obama has faced his share of tough issues and audiences over the years, but at every turn he's managed to defuse tension with a well-timed speech. Already he's receiving rave reviews for this morning's address in Cairo, Egypt, on America's relationship with the Muslim world. But how does he do it? We analyzed Obama's most famous speeches to bring you this handy instruction manual. Here are the 13 parts of the outline Sarlin came up with. He illustrates each part with quotes from actual speeches.Step 1. Thanks for having me.2. Express shock that someone with your life story could ever stand before such a crowd…3. ...But that's just America for you.4. Pause for audience interruption.5. Have gracious comeback ready.6. Pay homage to Founding Fathers and/or quote the Declaration of Independence.7. Express regret at America’s failures to live up to its founding principles.8. Both sides have a point.(a.) On the one hand.....(b.) But on the other hand....9. Dismiss traditional battle lines as insufficiently nuanced. Find common ground.10. After all, just look at me!11. Manage expectations.12. That said, don’t be afraid to dream big.13. Invoke God.I suggest you read the article to see the Obama quotes. This thing is creepy because it works so well...Michael

Darrell Hougen
Does anyone on here know if anyone has chronicled all of the inaccuracies in Obama's speech? For example, Obama stated (under step 3): But my personal story is not so unique. The dream of opportunity for all people has not come true for everyone in America, but its promise exists for all who come to our shores—that includes nearly seven million American Muslims in our country today who enjoy incomes and education that are higher than average. But, according the CIA World Fact book, the United States is 0.6% Muslim yielding a Muslim population of 1.8 million (2007 estimate).https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/th...ok/geos/us.htmlI've heard some radio commentators say that the U.S. has 3 million Muslims. But, I have never heard a figure anywhere near 7 million. Where is he getting his figures from?Apparently, there are a lot of other inaccuracies in the speech. I'm wondering if anyone has compiled a list.Darrell
ginny
Something's bothering me. Can someone help clear this up? I haven't really paid all that much attention to Obama's recent speeches. The newspapers, however, are filled with how pleased the Muslim's are. Why must we please the Muslims? Yes, there are plenty of decent Muslims out there. I respect that But I don't think that's what the headlines are referring to. Muslims have bombed the WTC. They have bombed the USS Cole. They have bombed numerous embassies. They have repeatedly beheaded people and bragged about it. Damn it, why must we please these people? Is the idea that we should offer an olive branch to the people who have treated us thusly?Screw that, I say. Unless I'm missing something, we have a president who is taking over American industry and kissing Allah's butt.Makes me want to kick his freaking butt to hell.Ginny - confused and pissed
Selene
Ginny/Darrell:You are not missing anything. He is a committed Alinsky marxist and as my good friend an Egyptian Muslim American stated to me yesterday, he is what is never ever ever accepted back to the Muslim fold.A gentile or an infidel will be given the chance to convert to Islam, but if you are born of a Muslim father, you are a Muslim. If you become a Christian after being borne a Muslim - that is unforgivable and that person must be killed.Additionally, he and his staff cannot be so stupid as to allow his statements in that speech that are patently lies.{Sorry about the layout}Following is a list of countries with largest Muslim population on left and highest percentage of Muslim population in the country on the right.By Population ↓ By Percentage (citizens only) ↓Rank Country Muslim Population % Muslim Country % Muslim Muslim Population1 Indonesia 207,000,105 88.20% Saudi Arabia 100% 26,417,5992 Pakistan 167,430,801 95% Afghanistan 99% 31,571,0233 India 156,254,615 13.4% Somalia 100% 8,591,6294 Bangladesh 132,446,365 88% Maldives 99.9% 348,7565 Turkey 70,800,000 99% Turkey 99% 70,800,0006 Egypt 70,530,237 90% Western Sahara 99.8% 272,4617 Nigeria 64,385,994 45% Iran 98% 67,337,6818 Iran 64,089,571 98% Algeria 99% 32,206,5349 Algeria 32,999,883 99% Mauritania 99% 3,083,77210 Morocco 32,300,410 99% Yemen 99% 20,519,79211 Afghanistan 31,571,023 99% Tunisia 99% 9,974,20112 Saudi Arabia 26,417,599 100% Oman 99% 2,971,56713 Sudan 26,121,865 65% Comoros 99% 664,53414 Iraq 25,292,658 97% Djibouti 99% 471,93515 Uzbekistan 23,897,563 89% Morocco 98.7% 32,300,41016 Ethiopia 22,533,500 31.2% Pakistan 98% 162,487,48917 Russia 21,513,046 15% Libya 97% 5,592,59618 Yemen 20,519,792 99% Iraq 97% 25,292,65819 China 19,594,707 1.5% Tajikistan 95% 6,805,33020 Syria 16,234,901 88% Jordan 95% 5,471,74521 Malaysia 14,467,694 60.4% Qatar 95% 819,89822 Tanzania 12,868,224 35% Senegal 94% 10,459,22223 Mali 11,062,376 90% Azerbaijan 93.4% 7,584,31124 Niger 10,499,343 90% Bahrain 93.1% 659,68225 Senegal 10,459,222 94% Egypt 91% 70,530,23726 Tunisia 9,974,201 99% Mali 90% 11,062,37627 Somalia 8,548,670 99% Niger 90% 10,499,34328 Guinea 8,047,686 85% Gambia 95% 1,433,93029 Azerbaijan 7,584,311 93.4% Uzbekistan 89% 23,897,56330 Burkina Faso 7,449,626 52% Turkmenistan 89% 4,407,35231 Kazakhstan 7,137,346 47% Indonesia 88.2% 207,000,10532 Tajikistan 6,805,330 95% Bangladesh 88% 127,001,27233 Côte d'Ivoire 6,677,043 38.6% Syria 88% 16,234,90134 Congo (Kinshasa) 6,008,500 10% Guinea 85% 8,047,68635 Libya 5,592,596 97% Kuwait 85% 1,985,30036 Jordan 5,471,745 95% West Bank and Gaza 84% 3,159,99937 Chad 5,306,266 54% Kyrgyzstan 80% 4,117,02438 Turkmenistan 4,407,352 89% United Arab Emirates 76% 1,948,04139 Philippines 4,392,873 5% Albania 70% 2,508,27740 France 4,214,790 6.9% Brunei 64.5% 241,60241 Kyrgyzstan 4,117,024 80% Sudan 65% 26,121,86542 Uganda 4,090,422 15% Malaysia 60.4% 14,467,69443 Mozambique 3,881,340 20% Sierra Leone 60% 3,610,58544 Sierra Leone 3,610,585 60% Lebanon 55% 2,142,57045 Ghana 3,364,776 16% Burkina Faso 52% 7,449,62646 Cameroon 3,276,001 20% Chad 54% 5,306,26647 Thailand 3,272,218 5% Nigeria 50% 64,385,99448 Mauritania 3,083,772 99.9% Eritrea 50% 2,280,79950 Germany 3,049,961 3.7% Ethiopia 50% 37,533,50051 Oman 2,971,567 99% Bosnia 40% 1,820,87952 United States 2,350,000 0.8% Côte d'Ivoire 38.6% 6,677,04353 Albania 2,004,480 58% Guinea-Bissau 38% 538,09054 Malawi 2,431,784 20% Tanzania 35% 12,868,22455 Kenya 2,368,071 7% Macedonia 33.3% 685,30556 Eritrea 2,280,799 50% Suriname 22% 96,39157 Serbia and Montenegro 2,274,126 21% Serbia and Montenegro 21% 2,274,12658 Lebanon 2,142,570 55% Mozambique 20% 3,881,34059 Kuwait 1,985,300 85% Cameroon 20% 3,276,00160 United Arab Emirates 1,948,041 76% Malawi Whichever way you figure it we are 52nd or 66th in ranking by Muslim population. Therefore, he and his staff intentionally are lying.Alinsky 101 - This is the easy stuff to see. Here is one of the real threats of his complete centralization of executive power. He has something like 22 or 23 Czars. 1) All serving at the pleasure of the President - none of the Czars have to be even looked at by Congress. Forget getting confirmed;2) All of the Czars have set up a staff structure and administrative rules. Salary Czar; Energy Czar; etc.;3) Reagan had 24 or 32 National Security staff at the White House;4) O'Biwan has over 220 as of this month;5) "The Statist has also constructed a Fourth Branch of government - an enormous administrative state - which exists to oversee and implement his policies. it is a massive yet amorphous bureaucracy that consists of a workforce of nearly 2 million civilian employees. It administers a budget of over $ 3 trillion a year. It churns out a mind-numbing number of rules that regulate energy, the environment , business, labor, employment transportation housing agriculture food drugs education etc. [u.S. ginny
Guess you're right, Selene. I forgot Obama had a Muslim father. Still ... the fact that we are rejoicing in pleasing the Muslims is plain wrong and the media doesn't see it. They are going along with the happy-fest, and no one remembers all the dead. Hell, my mum was nazi. Should I be begging respect for Hitler? We are all friends under the skin kind of thing? Some people should be skinned alive. Just on principle. GinnyCorrect Ginny.Unfortunately, the "press" as we used to refer to it no longer exists. If it was not for this incredible tool and medium that we are communicating on now and the radio as in "talk radio" we would be meeting in catacombs and exchanging secret handshakes over a fish symbol or some other coded insignia.Rush Limbaugh has started to refer to the "state-run" media versus the prior name of the "drive by media". This is a particularly bad sign for me.And I come from the school that you eradicate your enemy completely.Dresden, Hiroshima, Nagasaki and the more deadly fire bombing of the closely packed paper mache buildings of the Japanese cities that were non-nuke bomber were quite effective.Adam
