John Enright just posted this story on his Facebook "shared thoughts" thingie (Facebook's answer to Twitter). I decided to take a look. It was incredibly perceptive. From the article:

President Obama has faced his share of tough issues and audiences over the years, but at every turn he's managed to defuse tension with a well-timed speech. Already he's receiving rave reviews for this morning's address in Cairo, Egypt, on America's relationship with the Muslim world. But how does he do it? We analyzed Obama's most famous speeches to bring you this handy instruction manual.

Here are the 13 parts of the outline Sarlin came up with. He illustrates each part with quotes from actual speeches.

Step 1. Thanks for having me.

2. Express shock that someone with your life story could ever stand before such a crowd…

3. ...But that's just America for you.

4. Pause for audience interruption.

5. Have gracious comeback ready.

6. Pay homage to Founding Fathers and/or quote the Declaration of Independence.

7. Express regret at America’s failures to live up to its founding principles.

8. Both sides have a point.

9. Dismiss traditional battle lines as insufficiently nuanced. Find common ground.

Adlai Stevenson. in his concession speech, the Unitarian and one-term Illinois governor quoted Abraham Lincoln, saying,

"It hurts too much to laugh, but I'm too old to cry."

Does anyone on here know if anyone has chronicled all of the inaccuracies in Obama's speech?

For example, Obama stated (under step 3):

But my personal story is not so unique. The dream of opportunity for all people has not come true for everyone in America, but its promise exists for all who come to our shores—that includes nearly seven million American Muslims in our country today who enjoy incomes and education that are higher than average.

But, according the CIA World Fact book, the United States is 0.6% Muslim yielding a Muslim population of 1.8 million (2007 estimate).

I've heard some radio commentators say that the U.S. has 3 million Muslims. But, I have never heard a figure anywhere near 7 million. Where is he getting his figures from?

Apparently, there are a lot of other inaccuracies in the speech. I'm wondering if anyone has compiled a list.

Something's bothering me. Can someone help clear this up? I haven't really paid all that much attention to Obama's recent speeches. The newspapers, however, are filled with how pleased the Muslim's are.

Why must we please the Muslims? Yes, there are plenty of decent Muslims out there. I respect that But I don't think that's what the headlines are referring to. Muslims have bombed the WTC. They have bombed the USS Cole. They have bombed numerous embassies. They have repeatedly beheaded people and bragged about it.

Damn it, why must we please these people? Is the idea that we should offer an olive branch to the people who have treated us thusly?

Screw that, I say. Unless I'm missing something, we have a president who is taking over American industry and kissing Allah's butt.

Makes me want to kick his freaking butt to hell.

You are not missing anything. He is a committed Alinsky marxist and as my good friend an Egyptian Muslim American stated to me yesterday, he is what is never ever ever accepted back to the Muslim fold.

A gentile or an infidel will be given the chance to convert to Islam, but if you are born of a Muslim father, you are a Muslim. If you become a Christian after being borne a Muslim - that is unforgivable and that person must be killed.

Additionally, he and his staff cannot be so stupid as to allow his statements in that speech that are patently lies.

Whichever way you figure it we are 52nd or 66th in ranking by Muslim population. Therefore, he and his staff intentionally are lying.

Alinsky 101 -

This is the easy stuff to see. Here is one of the real threats of his complete centralization of executive power.

He has something like 22 or 23 Czars.

1) All serving at the pleasure of the President - none of the Czars have to be even looked at by Congress. Forget getting confirmed;

2) All of the Czars have set up a staff structure and administrative rules. Salary Czar; Energy Czar; etc.;

3) Reagan had 24 or 32 National Security staff at the White House;

4) O'Biwan has over 220 as of this month;

5) "The Statist has also constructed a Fourth Branch of government - an enormous administrative state - which exists to oversee and implement his policies. it is a massive yet amorphous bureaucracy that consists of a workforce of nearly 2 million civilian employees. It administers a budget of over $ 3 trillion a year. It churns out a mind-numbing number of rules that regulate energy, the environment , business, labor, employment transportation housing agriculture food drugs education etc. [u.S. Dept. of Labor Statistics].

The invisible bars to the marxist cage have been incrementally built and they have the electronic key and the will to lock us in now.

Unfortunately, the "press" as we used to refer to it no longer exists. If it was not for this incredible tool and medium that we are communicating on now and the radio as in "talk radio" we would be meeting in catacombs and exchanging secret handshakes over a fish symbol or some other coded insignia.

Rush Limbaugh has started to refer to the "state-run" media versus the prior name of the "drive by media". This is a particularly bad sign for me.

And I come from the school that you eradicate your enemy completely.

Dresden, Hiroshima, Nagasaki and the more deadly fire bombing of the closely packed paper mache buildings of the Japanese cities that were non-nuke bomber were quite effective.
