Michael Stuart Kelly
Another One: Priest's Throat Cut at Mass. ISIS Celebrates The article from Daily Mail: Elderly priest, 86, is 'beheaded' by two ISIS knifemen shouting 'Daesh' after they took nuns and worshippers hostage at French church: Police shoot both attackers dead then search for bombs Let's see how the press and politicians spin this one. New York Times, for instance, prefers the passive voice: Attack on Church in France Kills Priest, and ISIS Is Blamed. The spin tern "workplace violence" comes to mind... Bah! I shouldn't quip... This is awful... Michael

anthony
The BBC reporter in France was quite anguished, but it didn't stop him quickly decrying - words to the effect of - the prejudiced condemnation of these attacks-as being always ISIS, always Muslim. Munich wasn't, he stressed. This one wasn't an attack on Catholicism (! Tell it to the Christians in Iraq). It is 'psychology', not ideology at fault (revealing of his skepticism). These pundits' fond beliefs are daily outstripped by events, but it doesn't give them pause for thought apparently, they only come back stronger with knee-jerk apologism. All such killers will have to be proven to be carrying ISIS membership cards, written orders from their chief, and Korans, before denialists might make any connection. Yeah, well recognised by most westerners for some years: it is only "some" Muslims and it's not "always" (directly) Daesh. Any child can grasp the idea that between "never" and "always", "none" and "all" there's a huge probability gap where the truth usually lies, but grown, experienced observers can't? The reasons for this bias are almost incomprehensible, but I have the suspicion it's got to be mind blowingly confusing for European progressives, who've gradually sacrificed -'martyred'- their proud hard-fought Western values, to get their heads around a death cult that also believes in sacrifice and martydom too, just more physically.
