Looks like what I did above works for nesting posts with a tablet.

1) I quoted the first test post, and replied.

2) I quoted the second test post.

3) I clicked the link icon of the first test post, then activated "Multiquote" at the bottom left.

4) I returned to the reply box, which was showing blank, and tapped to get the saved reply to appear.

5) I inserted a paragraph break above the text, then positioned the cursor in the paragraph break, then clicked the "insert one post" pop-up box at the bottom right.

The post was on a different thread.

Brant, you needed to hit "Multiquote" with both posts, then click the pop-up box, bottom right.
