Jules Troy
http://jestephotography.deviantart.comI have a few new ones up including very RARELY seen courtship rituals between two Horned Grebes. I sat there for over 3 hours watching them and got to witness this display for its entirety of about 10 seconds. Also there is a journal entry on my cover page showcasing my wife's digital art. She by the way has never read any objectivist lit and is in manyyyyy ways more Objectivist than manyyyy objectivists..irony!
Jules Troy
http://jestephotography.deviantart.com/art/Yellow-Headed-Blackbird-454887696I was told by a professional photographer friend of mine that this shot was a work of art http://jestephotography.deviantart.com/art/Yellow-Bellied-Sapsucker-Male-455319868I was in the woods and this guy landed in the tree rightttt next to me! "Clickclickclick!!!" http://jestephotography.deviantart.com/art/Rejuvenate-455091539I actually hand held for this macro, 3 shots aligned and blended in photoshop, perhaps I should have done 6 to have the whole thing in focus but I like it as is.Coming soon as soon as I have time. Some white pelicans, a Baltimore oriole(I did not realize they came up this far north so I was pretty happy, gorgeous bird). I nailed some killer shots this weekend, walking in various terrains for about ten miles total.

Jonathan
Do you carry a weapon?J
Jules Troy
Bear spray. No weapons allowed in national parks. Besides that it's about recognizing their behaviour. If a bear knows you are there and is intently feeding on dandelion shoots like this guy, as long as you don't TRY and get his attention he is just going to continue feeding. If he stands up to sniff the air? That's a bad thing. If he huffs and stomps the ground with his front paws? You are fuxored unless your vehicle is literally 2 steps away(like mine was.).The other time you may be in trouble is a) you surprise one walking down a trail.B) you are minding your own business and he is actively hunting you... Jules Troy
http://jestephotography.deviantart.com/art/Hare-Evening-Graze-465779506Not an action shot J but 1250 ISO f2.8 1/200 secRather low light sun was already down. I also took a few at 3600 ISO that were no different than this one! If you pixel peep at 100% you cannnn see "some" noise but no different than my old camera at 400-800 ISO and entirely usable/printable.

Jonathan
Looks great, but I still want to see that fancy camera pushed to its limits. Something like ISO 12000 to 32000, at or after dusk, with action, and something around f11 to 16.J
Jules Troy
Ok I will set max ISO to 64000 and see if I can catch some bats at night.

Jules Troy
Next time I'm out owl hunting ill probably us a small amount of fill flash to keep the ISO under 3200, it's pretty noise free under 5k ISO.

Mikee
Very nice Jules. Wow. Damn, don't you have a job? When do you have time to work?I like the second one. It would have been nice to get his entire reflection off the water. I can imagine him with a fish lined up between his talons just under the water... Jules Troy
Still processing the one where he hits the fish:)I worked 87 hours last week, then I had 3 days off. When I have a day off I'm out in the field 1.5 hours before sunrise and head home half hour after sunset or my memory card is full.
Selene
Stunning. As Mikkee said above the minute I saw the first and saw the title, I began to visualize that final attack position and that after the strike it would use the fishes body as a launch point upward. I've watched Osprey fish the Delaware river ever since I was a kid. Very beautiful Jules. A...
