The Rabbis didn't leave Perry much choice. If he had pulled away from the circle before the dancing started, he would have looked even worse.

You can see Perry becoming impatient during later stages of the singing. I can imagine him thinking, "Okay, wrap it up, you Christ Killers -- wrap it up!" 8-)
