    Manga

My cousin has recently became an Ayn Rand fan (I talked him into read Fountainhead). Now, he wants more Objectivist works. I let him barrow a copy of Atlas Shrugged but he said it was too big. I gave him Anthem and he liked that... Now he is asking me if there is any Objectivists manga... I have never read any manga so I can't tell him if there are any or not... Any one know of any?
  2. This might be a little off topic... But does anyone know what a healthy BMI is? My sister keeps saying she is fat but she isn't! (She is 5 foot 5 inches and only 128 lbs). Her BMI is about 21.3 That's not overweight is it?
  3. My cousin is 25. He was raised in a strict Catholic home but now he is in college and seeing some different points of view. He has attended two lectures on Objectivism but that's all.
  4. Thanks for the quote! I've read Atlas Shrugged, Anthem, the Fountainhead, We the Living, Night of January16th, and The Lexicon. This is basically the order I've read them in. I used to read the Individualist and Objectivist Newsletter but can't find thetime anymore.
  5. Is there are "right" and "wrong" in the intelectual world? Is there a rational way to discribe faith? Sorry about the depth of the questions... My cousin is asking me these things and I don't know how to answer!
  6. My boyfriend is going to college in Colorado and I'm going to school in Missouri. We tried to do the long distance thing but he got really perinoid after the first week (aftera couple of months it started getting to me too!). I guess it wasn't ment to be...
  7. In the movie French Kiss the french theif tells a story to distract Meg Ryan. He says that to kiss a whore cost more than having sexual intercourse with her. Meg says that doesn't make sense but he goes on to explain that sex is just lust but a kiss is love. I can't say that I totally agree with the French theif about sex being just lust but I have to say that some kisses really are passionate.
  8. The love bite and tongue cam. went a little too far. At first it was funny but then it got weired...
  9. This post really shows how different (and alike) men and women really are. :puppeh:
  10. Thank you, Chris. You're so sweet!
  11. My name is Jehni. I live in Missouri. I really shouldn't be here because I'm 20... But less than 6 months ago I was 19 so I still think of myself as a teen! :shifty:
  12. Does anyone have a red velvet cake recipe?
  13. I'm 21 -- or will be in a month or so -- but I'm a college student. In my high school all the teachers told us that college would be horrible and that we had to prepare for it now... Well, I never had to pull an all-nighter or kill myself to pass. I manage my time, have fun, and still get on the dean's list! Don't worry college is no worse than high school -- It's not better: 1) My English professor tells the whole class that he needs an 8 page research paper on the Victorian Poetry style in his e-mail inbox in less than 24 hours and never grades the work after we all scramble to get it in!! 2) My math professor gives us the wrong page to do for homework at least twice a week (it gets really confusing trying to find the area when they need you to find the ditsance.). 3) No two music majors conduct alike -- are they going to cue the base? It's a 50/50 chance. 4) Criteria for the majors change from year to year... but to see the new criteria, students have to pay! 5) Underclassmen parking cost more but is farther from the dorms! Don't worry about college... It's not all bad. After the first two years, half my fees went away and I got premo parking
  14. I think that both pictures are sweet... Not really because I enjoy looking at skeletons beut because of the idea they represent. The idea may seem old-fashioned but Rand herself said that her husband was the only person she would die for -- Or who she knew would die for her.
  15. If eating fatty foods makes you feel that sick than it might be a good idea to stop eating them! I always feel more satisfied with a salad than with a burger! Your body knows what it needs... Do what it tells you to!
  16. Jogging helps merelax and stay inshape at the same time. When the weather gets cold I enjoy dancing (tradtional tap and some ballet).
  17. First impressions can be about more than how someone looks. What you say when you first meet someone and howyou act plays a part too. I think that basing your first impressions on looks alone is unfair but taking time to get to know a person is not always an option.
  18. Hi Angie! Is this Iraqui rice anything like your dish? Sholeh Zard 1 cup short grained rice 1 cup sugar 1/4 cup corn oil 1/2 cup rose water 2 teaspoons ground saffron Put rice in large sauce pan. Pour 7 to 8 cups water over rice. Boil and stir occassionally. After 30 minutes of boiling, add sugar and wait for it to disolve. Cover rice and simmer for 20 minutes. Add corn oil, rose water, and saffron to rice. Cook covered under low heat for 20 minutes. Stir and remove from heat. Cover and let sit 40 minutes. Serves 6 to8.
  19. Winter Veggie Stew Ingredients: 3 Tablespoons olive oil 1 and 1/2 tablespoons curry powder 2 cups pinto beans 6 medium carrots (cut into 1-inch sticks) 4 medium celery sticks (cut into 1-inch peices) 1 medium butternut squash (chopped) 1 bayleaf 2 cans chicken broth 1 cup water 1 and 1/2 cups peas Place water, olive oil, curry powder, and beans in medium sized bowl. Mix together and place in slow cooker over medium heat. Add remaining ingredients one at a time, stirring between each one. Cook at least 40 to 50 minutes. The longer it cooks, the more flavorful the stew gets.
  20. I love scifi and fantasy books. I've read all the LotR, Narnia, and Dune but I just can't finish David Baldacci. I have tried to finish "The Court" three times but I just can't get into it!
  21. When is the next book coming out? I think it is called Confessor.

  23. I LOVE pumkin Pie!!!!! :ike: I usually just buy pie crust and put warm pumkin filling in it. I cover the top with cherries.... I know I have strange taste.
