I posted the following this morning on Atlantis II. The "Jim" referred to in my post refers of course to J**** * O*********, attorney from Indiana.

I no longer believe that Jim is a member of the Wendy Clan.

Here is my concern:

As an OL member who has followed the plagiarism thread, you

have seen Richard Martin's posts, so you know how nutty the

Wendy Clan can get, as Wendy becomes increasingly desperate.

Brad follows LL2, so at some point I wouldn't be at all

surprised if the following happens: Brad comes out with an

updated version of the "George beat Wendy" lie, and in the

process he cites or quotes an attorney from Indiana who, as

an objective bystander, has concluded that there is "direct

evidence" for Wendy's allegation; indeed, this attorney has

gone on record as stating that George is "a beater of

women."

Sound too fantastic for something that the Wendy Clan would

actually do? Not for anyone who is familiar with the

outlandish allegation that Richard Martin made on OL the day

before Jim made his.

The possibility that Wendy, via Brad, might quote or cite

Jim in her smear campaign -- the fact that Jim is an

attorney and is not personally involved might appear to some

to add to his credibility -- is why I have been so insistent

that Jim issue a straightforward retraction of his

allegation. I want a simple and clear retraction that I can

post should the scenario I describe above ever occur.

This is no frivolous matter, as some seem to think. It is

potentially very serious, and I have no intention of sitting

on my hands and chuckling when an immature poster like Jim

gets pissed off at me and decides to vent his anger with

malicious charges.

As you and others who have observed me on elists over the

years well know, when I clamp onto someone, I clamp on like

a Pit Bull. I never let go, especially when I regard the

issue as a serious one, and I am very good at what I do. Jim

has made a determined and serious enemy, until and

unless I get an explicit retraction.

I pulled this distinction between an autobiography and a memoir from the Internet:

An autobiography focuses on the chronology of the writer’s entire life while a memoir covers one specific aspect of the writer’s life.

By this standard, you are correct. I am writing a memoir, not an autobiography. Thanks for calling this distinction to my attention. Frankly, it had never occurred to me before.

Moreover, my book will not even be a conventional memoir, since it will discuss the philosophical implications of "rational hedonism," based on my personal experiences. My book, part memoir and part philosophy, will be highly unusual in this respect.

Jim, the attorney I have referred to in previous posts, just posted this statement on the Yahoo lists Left Libertarian II and Atlantis II. I told Jim that if he signed this statement that I would go back to the earlier posts on this thread that mention his full name and substitute asterisks for most of the letters of his name, thereby leaving only his initials.

I shall now proceed to do this. This may take a little time, but I promised to finish the necessary editing within the next 24 hours. In any future posts, I shall refer to this person simply as "Jim." Here is his statement:

I don't understand this either, but I have been looking at the online list lately and I notice that there are always 4 Guests, at least, reading the thread, as well as the usual members and Anon Users.

Also, it seems to me that the latest Best of Week where George got a long-overdue award, has got more readers than it usually does.

I think a lot of, or at least some, people read every post where Ghs is mentioned, if it's possible to find them when his name isn't in the topic title.

Wendy's allegation that I physically assaulted her, which I reposted here , has again reared its ugly head -- this time on the Yahoo list Left Libertarian II. In a flurry of exchanges yesterday, one J**** *. O*********, an attorney in Indiana, wrote the following in four separate posts:

"Your a liar, beater of women, a pathetic failure and a fool."

" I do think he [Ghs] is a beater of women, but I don't have proof."

"I stand by all my comments. They were appropriate and deserved."

"I stand by all my comments, as stated earlier."

I initially believed that Jim (as he calls himself online) was working in collusion with Brendy, but he adamantly denied that he knows either of them. I am inclined to believe him, but I remain skeptical. Why would an attorney post a public charge like this when he claims to know none of the parties involved and absolutely nothing about the plagiarism scandal? Indeed, Jim claimed that he has not even read Wendy's allegation first hand, and that all he knows is what I related second-hand.

It had gotten to the point where my posts had broken into the first 10 hits when you googled Jim's full name with "attorney" and "Indiana," and one of my posts showed up at #17 when googling his name alone. This came as a complete surprise to me, of course. But it did come in handy during negotiations on A2, which got very nasty at times.
