syrakusos
Long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away, my wife, daughter and I used to play Moria and Rogue, but beyond that, it is not something I do. However, I do understand something of the culture(s) and I was wondering if anyone here actually participates actively.Last year at this time, in my monthly "Internet Connections" column for The Numismatist of the ANA, I wrote about a Live Action D and D called True Dungeon (link here). They build a two-story dungeon in a convention hall. It takes about 45 minutes to work your way through. My interest was the fact that the game pieces were coins: potion, charms, weapons, armour, the whole bit, but as coins of differing values. Then, as a spin-off of that whole culture, Felicia Day has her own webshow, "Watch the Guild." (see here) These online gamers get their real lives crossed. Now in its sixth or seventh season, the show demonstrates what the web can do. Felicia Day had a supporting role in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (never watched it) and then could not get more work. So, she formed her own fandom via Facebook and then this, "Watch the Guild" show. She started off getting Paypal donations. Now MSN sponsors the show.Does anyone here activel play SimCity? (I know... you don't like taxes...) How about Civilization? ...Chess?... Brant Gaede
Does anyone here activel play SimCity? I played it 15-20 years ago and soon got quite bored with it. If I ever revive my 20 yo computer I might play it again. A little.--Brant Edited December 11, 2010 by Brant Gaede

studiodekadent
I play plenty of video games and I have a copy of Vampire: The Requiem. I've also designed a few pen and paper games myself. I also engage in casino gambling too, so yes, I like a wide variety of game types.

Ventured a bit into the Palladium role-playing system (a bit more intricate regarding in character building).I did a few years of Live Steel (historical re-enactment with period clothing, armor, gear, etc). It's much like SCA, but the focus is on being true to the attire and equipment. We actually carried out small skirmishes using real swords and shields (we made these ourselves). The weapons are blunted for obvious reasons. For online gaming, I played World of Warcraft for 5 years. Might even go back to it for a spell or two. Always wanted to play Warhammer 40K, but getting the armies is a bit of a stretch for me (time and money, presently). However, I have great admiration for the authors of the Black Library who put out amazing books!~ Shane
