From a NY Times article a few days ago:

"The exodus — by truck, car, foot and horse cart — reached close to 200,000 people, forcing relief workers to erect new rows of tents in camps along the clotted road running south from the Swat Valley, the scene of the heaviest fighting. More trouble loomed: Relief officials said as many as 300,000 people were moving or preparing to flee.

The humanitarian crisis unfolded as the Pakistani Army moved ahead with what it described as an all-out attack on the Taliban militants in Swat, the epicenter of a power struggle over months between government forces and the militants. Army officers said they were confronting a force of about 4,000 militants, who took advantage of a peace agreement in February to seize control of much of the district and its government buildings."

And this was the result of an utter failure of Paki and US efforts to work out an agreement with one of the "moderate" Taliban!

Can we possibly be this fucking stupid?

Isn't this a good sign, that they are fighting, rather than compromising? Can you explain your objection more clearly?

Ted:

Sorry I skipped one point.

We did compromise with the Taliban warlord and granted him control over a province NW of Islamabad.

The Taliban commander then used it as a base of operations to control two other provinces and was approximately 80 miles from the capital and on the move.

This other issue is that the Paki have told us that they are not going to tell us where their 20 + nukes are and most or many are mobile which means vulnerable to a take by the Taliban which would be a disaster,
