benfrank
Pretty interesting and well written: http://www.cableu.tv/cuconfidential/2009/0...re-romanticism/Excerpt: During a serious economic recession, do viewers really want to see on television a reflection of the depression in their own lives? Or do they, instead, want to view a projection of what can be … a story about something more beautiful, more “timeless” and more inspiring?Rand Quote: “Romanticism is the conceptual school of art. It deals, not with the random trivia of the day, but with the timeless, fundamental, universal problems and values of human existence. It does not record or photograph; it creates and projects. It is concerned—in the words of Aristotle—not with things as they are, but with things as they might be and ought to be.”

Chris Grieb
BenFrank; Welcome! During the 30ths there were lots of movies that had rich people in them. While sometimes the rich people were fools they were also in many cases depicted well. Take a look at Ellie's father in It Happened One Night.
