Well that takes care of the cradle part of the marxist formulae!

Texas:

Yep.

Great speaker - great speech - which is why I am completely terrified for my Republic - he believes this shit!

Sorry Texas - NY City boy who flys two flags - The Don't Tread On Me and the original Alabama Battle Flag.

I will never register a weapon ever.

By the way what did you think of the Kinkster's run for Governor against Rick "Texas is which way?" Perry?

I wonder what those who were saying that Obama would "govern from the middle" are now thinking?

Bill:

They will not "think", they will selectively distort and selectively retain what supports their statement that this speech proves that he is governing from the middle!

Come on Bill, have you spoken to a recent American H.S. or college graduate recently? Pitiful critical listening skills and such poor communications skills that I told one young man that I would wave consecutive translation of what just stumbled out of his mouth for about 3 minutes.

Got his attention and about 45 minutes later we had coffee and he had a copy of Atlas in his hand.

Adam -

I understand you. I'm wondering whether some of those on this list who were very clear about thinking Obama would govern from the middle will care to comment in response.

Now, in regard to whether I have spoken to a recent American H. S. or college graduate recently . . . .

I am a professor. I teach and interact with students fairly regularly. Admittedly, I now teach in Shanghai - but I have ongoing communication with many MBA graduates from my former institution (which was the University of Tennessee) and from my current one (in Shanghai, China) - of whom some are from the USA.

So - yes, I see what they learn as UG students - and I inherit that. I observe their reasoning and communication skills - when they reason in my classroom, and when they write for me.

Ironic, I think - - - looking at the direction the economy of the USA is heading in at breakneck pace, while the country in which I currently reside is headed rapidly in the other direction...

Kinky is a very funny guy. However, while I would have a cup of coffee with the guy, I could never vote for him. Rick Perry isn't the greatest, but he is more of a conservative than Kinky. It is a shame, I was really REALLY hoping I could vote for him because he is such a funny guy.

I know - Mao must be rolling his eyes in his grave!

China is planning militarily for a 5 decade readjustment of global power - their start up Navy is a hard message to India. Janes Fighting Ships analysis are flat out scary as to the Pacific and Indian Oceans as major confrontation points.

Also, I fear Taiwan, Quemoy and Matsu will be traded for Chinese financial support which just makes me sick.

Ah, the last time I saw Kinky Friedman was at a small night club in Houston, Texas, probably about 5 years ago. A real pleasure.

When he ran, back in 2006, I wasn't as well read as I am now in Objectivist (not to say I am well read in Objectivism, but just more so now). I tried finding my specific reasons back then for why I could not support him, but cannot. I don't remember all the specifics, but I do remember I was concerned regarding his health care plan, as well as the fact that he wanted to make slaughter houses for horses illegal. I am not for slaughtering horses for meat, but at the time, I felt that perhaps it wasn't something the government should be involved in.

So I should probably clarify that I couldn't vote for him THEN. Would I now? I really don't know. I would have to re-examine his policies, etc.

Again, I am not a huge fan of Rick Perry.

One thing, though, that I have come to better understand is that Libertarians are NOT evil (not that I thought he was because of that then - but I was leery because of what I had read Rand and others stating about the party at the time), I have also come to realize that changing things in this great country to make them better is going to be a slow process, and that we need to take small steps. And while those small steps may not be 100% what be considered purely capitalist, if they are in the RIGHT direction, then I need to consider them.

On a side note: during the last election I voted for every Libertarian local politicians, because even though the party has its issues, I know at least they are for small government and lower taxes.

I wrote in John Galt for my presidential pick.

I knew I liked you. I have written John Galt in quite a few times for quite a few offices.

Additionally, I was an election inspector, both Rep and Dem, depended on what county I resided in and a NYC Voluntary Atty Gen for election day - what a mistake that was lol.

I finally got the E.D. that I lived in with all my neighbors and when we opened the machine at 9:00 PM to record the votes, I announced that their was one write in and my fellow election inspectors said, "Well we know who cast that one!" So much for the Australian ballot lol.

Sherry, first of all why don't you run for the local school board?

Additionally, this is politics, you walk a while with folks on common issues. Look for the common points and vote and well pray lol.

Little Jewford, Big Nig, Panama Red, Rainbow Colors, and Snakebite Jacobs were with him way back, did he introduce the band that night?

"Kinky Friedman wrote and performed satirical country songs during the 1970s and has been hailed as the Frank Zappa of country music."

He makes regular appearances with Imus, he is on RFD on cable in the morning.
