Michael Stuart Kelly
I used to enjoy this song a great deal in my past, especially when I would get bored with some of the pop stuff I was producing back when it came out. It gave me hope that pop could achieve great moments in line with where I came from (classical music and Objectivism). I just heard it again and it still sent a shiver up my spine. For the record, I don't know Farnham's politics and I have not been too impressed with the other music I have heard him sing (not even a song with the intriguing title of "Age of Reason.") "You're the Voice" has an anti-war sentiment, but I sense it is more universal than political. My own take is that the message is not appeasing peacenik stuff. I hear (very strongly) standing up to bullies, even armed bullies, and proclaiming that life can be better than fighting.btw - That's not the message of the opening of the video, but I still hear it as I said it.John Farnham - You're The VoiceMichael
