HAPPY THANKSGIVING everyone!! B)

Jim

Works for me! Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

As I understand it those who landed at Plymouth Rock established a kind of all for one and one for all colony. No one owned a piece of land. All were expected to be industrious, to pitch in and work the land. That which was then harvested was to be divided up among them all.

Needless to say that didn't work and not enough was produced. Many died. After a couple of years of that nonsense their leader changed the rules altogether. From then on each person had land designated as his or hers. It was sink or swim time. You anticipated that whatever you produced was for your own use and consumption. If you produced more than you needed for yourself you could trade the surplus away. If you didn't produce enough you were out of luck.

That worked! And that is what I believe they celebrated.

Communism, statism, collectivism, tribalism, socialism and the like not only do not work pragmatically, but should not even be instituted on moral grounds.

We should be "fighting" or at least struggling to enlighten our fellow citizen's children about these matters and the difference it makes what they come to believe.

I will get together with my offspring and we will not be thanking the gods tomorrow.

Enjoy. I realize you all know the above but I just wanted to elaborate in case someone who didn't know the story came across it.

Thanks Jim. My best to you and your family at this happy time.

I told a great number of people that Thanksgiving is one of two holidays mentioned in Atlas. I haven't counted the pages of the scene at the Reardan's dinner but it is a good scene.

On my OL blog I have a longer list of things I am grateful.

I want to draw attention to one. My thanks to Kat and Michael for the fine job they do of running OL. I am sure it is like herding cats at times. Thanks you both again.

Try not to stuff yourselves.

I am out for a thirty mile bike ride before the Feast. That is good for 1400 calories.
