20th Anniversary of Reagan Berlin Wall Speech

Tomorrow is the 20th anniversary of one of the greatest speech ever given by an American President. I refer to Ronald Reagan's "Mr Gorbachev: Tear down this wall"speech.

It was a speech that only two people wanted Reagan to give. One was the man who wrote the speech. The other was Ronald Reagan. Reagan had to put the line into this speech several times over the opposition of our State Department.

There is another reason to celebrate this speech. It actually happened. Much sooner than anyone expected. It occurred not by Mr Gorbachev but by the hand of the people to whom it was there most visible symbol of their repression. The people of East and West Germany.

Ayn Rand had a very low opinion of Ronald Reagan. I think she was to some extent justified but with the giving of the Wall speech, the fighting for the "tear down this wall" line. Ronald Reagan reached one the greatest moments for an American President. He proved Ayn Rand wrong.
