There are some further links in this article (some negative for a balanced view).Michael
John Dailey
Mike:~ Re this being a 'serious' concern...you're kidding, right?~ If *I* were to be able to converse with N'kisi, the 1st thing I would do is ask which he wants: the cracker I point to on the table to my left, or a companion parrot (an opposite sex one, assumptions based on probabilities here) in a cage I point to on the table to my right. With his(/her?) vocab and supposed context-understanding (shades of Lilly's dolphins!), I'd expect he'd have no prob with 'left'/'right' pointings. I wouldn't care if he picked the cracker, as long as he clearly 'picked' (aka 'chose'!) --- Why do I suspect there'd be ambiguity re his response?~ Let's talk about Koko, Washoe and other Great Apes; more meaningful possibilities there, methinks. I mean, a 'parrot' fer Polly's sakes!LLAPJ:D Edited January 14, 2007 by John Dailey
