Victor Pross
Rare Ayn RandPublish date: October 31, 2006Last updated: November 1, 2006 Reporter's NOTESVicki CurryThis story was suggested to me by our Supervising Producer, Linda Burns, after she heard of an exhibit about Ayn Rand’s years in Hollywood. I’ve always thought of Rand as a novelist and philosopher and wasn’t really aware of her connection to Los Angeles. So I was fascinated to learn that she got her start in Hollywood and did everything, from being an extra to working in wardrobe. It turns out that while growing up in Russia, she loved movies and always wanted a career in film.So within six months of coming to America, she moved to L.A. and quickly broke into show business. The 16 years she spent here laid the foundation for the writing and lecturing career she would later become known for.Play video here: http://www.kcet.org/lifeandtimes/blog/?p=
