I listened to the interview over three or four suppers.   They say Napoleon was five foot six and Alexander Pope four foot six.   Donald Trump is six foot two so don’t run for president just conquer Europe and write heroic couplets.

Madison had a point about the dangerous extraneousness of the Bill of Rights, that unless a power were listed in the Constitution then the government didn’t have that power, that listing a few powers it didn’t have would make it appear that the government might have other powers.  I don’t know the history of the degradation of the Constitution to rebut that argument but the Bill of Rights is a boon these days.  Look at the UK which has no analog to the First Amendment which here is still substantially intact.  Tom Mullen argues that we should have stuck with the Articles of Confederation.

Several of the State governments insisted on a Bill or Right.  North Carolina said if there was no B.O.R.  they would not approve the new Constitution.  That was sufficient  for the leaders of the Constitutional Convention to promise a Bill of Rights would be added as the first order of business under the new Constitution.  The promise was accepted.  Twelve amendments  constitution a B.O.R.  were proposed,  ten were accepted.  This ten are our beloved bill of rights.
