If you have 48 minutes you will be well served by attending this lecture by Sean Carrol, physicists and cosmologist

He is a super excellent lecture (as well as being a first rate physicist) and he explains why the Standard Model of Fields and Particles  explains everything we normally experience other than gravitation and why the Standard Model and Einstein's General Relativity explain everything we normally experience.  But this two theories together do NOT explain all that there is.  They do not touch dark matter or (so-called) dark energy (the cosmological constant).
