How did you get there? That Ailes abused his power this way seemed evident to me in his forced resignation following an internal investigation. It seemed evident to me in the Carlson win of an apology and millions. That Ailes lost his job and all of his power at FoxNews seems to be the harsh 'sentence' or penalty for his behaviour. The mighty, fallen. When I first started paying attention to FoxNews, the most remarkable personalities were the women. For some reason I associated FoxNews with bare arms, short skirts and high heels. It seemed to be part of the tableau or mise en scène of the performance. Women somehow appeared decorative to a degree not found on rival networks. Older women appeared not so commonly. False eyelashes and just a touch of cleavage and abundant hair seemed also part of the package. Anyhow, the King is gone from the network. That is my take-home. For the future, I think his future depends on Donald Trump, in a way. He is 76 or so. What 'retirement' had he planned for, if any? What is his plan for power -- in the sense of wielding an executive power over an organization? Does he want another 'real job' at his age? Does he want power of any kind? Now, if Trump wins, I think that it would be a strange Putin-like phenomena if the head of state and head of government had a direct role in the management direction of a news organization, let alone a new cable news network. If that same head of government pressed for 'reform' of libel laws to make it more easy to sir for defamation and insult, well, this is a page from the Erdogan playbook. If Trump wins, whither Roger Ailes? If he is destined to birth another network, he won't be reporting to the President. Except perhaps as a 'long-time' friend. If Trump loses, whither Roger Ailes? Whither FoxNews? Whither Trump? Trump will be still holding his brand. Why not attempt to trade, leverage, build a media empire, and why not have friendship with Roger Ailes, and why not try to make some money? It is interesting to consider just how much tangible 'power' these two men will have at hand if the election should be lost to Hillary Clinton. How might they pull off a comeback? When everybody is doing something in the entertainment world (I've lived in that world, don't forget, so I've seen it up close), it stands to reason one among that everybody is doing it, too. Read a Harold Robbins novel sometime, fer krissakes. I know Robbins is a bit old, but so is Ailes... btw - Here's a premise for you to check. I think the Social Justice PC culture is a false lens due to a series of factors (like media gatekeepers and paid protestors), but it is a temporary one. Intense right now, but temporary. The public will ultimately decide what it wants to view, especially now that the gatekeepers are being blown to hell by the Internet. Ask yourself if the public--without gatekeepers--gives a damn about the sexual shenanigans of the famous and powerful when they have something good to gawk at... "Is her adherence to this Islamic doctrine indicative of her adherence to Sharia law, which in itself is antithetical to the United States Constitution?" Pirro said in the scripted opening of her March 9 program that dealt with Omar, a popular target of conservative pundits since she entered Congress. Fox News is acting stupid.
