Gulch:

One of the better debates so far. I watched it on-line while I was working.

Dr. Paul made some excellent arguments, but, baring a bizarre deadlocked convention, the Republican Blue Blood establishment will never let him near the nomination.

Have you thought about how he would elimiate the Fed?

Congressional statute?

Executive order?

It looks to me that it would have to be a Congressional Act because of the enabling legislation:

The Federal Reserve Act (ch. 6, 38 Stat. 251, enacted December 23, 1913, 12 U.S.C. ch.3) is an Act of Congress that created and set up the Federal Reserve System, the central banking system of the United States of America, and granted it the legal authority to issue Federal Reserve Notes (now commonly known as the U.S. Dollar) and Federal Reserve Bank Notes as legal tender. The Act was signed into law by President Woodrow Wilson.

Adam,

Have you noticed the growth of the Students for Liberty, the Young Americans for Liberty and the Campaign For Liberty?

I don't know about you, but I find this very inspiring and their endeavors are rational evidence that there is reason to be hopeful for the future of the country.

Responding to your note that Woodrow Wilson signed the Federal Reserve Act of 1913 into law, I understand that he lived to regret what he had done after giving it more thought. I believe I read in G. Edward Griffin's The Creature From Jekyll Island that Wilson was heard to say something like, "I have ruined my country!"

Well whether it is Ron Paul who slays the Fed dragon or someone inspired by him, the day will surely come now that a growing number of people especially among the younger generation have come in contact with the pro freedom movement in one way or another.
