President Obama and America's Founding Ideals

In a post on the White House Blog, “President Obama on the Passing of Geraldine Ferraro,” the President states, “Geraldine fought to uphold America’s founding ideals of equality, justice, and opportunity for all.” Blog Post

Does the President not know that America’s primary founding ideal is Liberty? Justice and political equality are the means to protect a citizen’s Liberty. Justice and political equality are the means to protect a citizen’s creating opportunity for himself or herself.

Some people may take the President’s words to mean “economic equality, fairness, and provision of opportunity by others.” Whether that interpretation is intended, or is merely a possibility, it is an interpretation that contradicts America's actual founding ideals, and fails to honor the meaning of America's founding ideals.
