  1. Valliant will be speaking at this summer's OCON 2019 on his newish book. Funny, I thought after the PARC disaster he would always by a B or C-lister.
  2. Milgram will have access to documents that neither Branden, Burns or Heller had. It's hard not to conclude that it won't be good, although it will have to be used with caution.
  3. I think she read some Kant, but there isn't any evidence she did. I don't think Milgram quotes Rand as saying she read Kant. But if you have only passing knowledge of someone it seems a little irresponsible to call him the most evil man in history.
  4. 9th - I doubt she read the Critique of Judgment. I think there are O'ists who think this shows Kant corrupted aesthetics, but I don't have any reason to think she read the book. My guess is that she read some of the Critique of Pure Reason and some of Critique of Practical Reason (or the shortened version of it).
  5. Here it is: Well, I'm having a problem cutting and pasting. www.objectivismefr.wordpress.com
  6. Michael, I can't cut and paste into comments or messages.  Any idea why?

      Neil,

I don't know. On this end there is no problem. People cut and paste all the time. Every day. Sometimes there is an issue with Javascript, so what are you trying to cut and paste? Send me a link and I might be able to detect the problem or tell you how to do it if there is some technical something or other you are not aware of.

It's every site.  Maybe because it's because I'm trying to send links to "Doug Bandler" lol.

  7. The logical conclusion of Binswanger's view is that Israel could repel an invading Islamic army but is morally obligated to allow in millions of immigrants even if they would vote Israel out of existence. However Binswanger, for some reason, doesn't apply his open borders nonsense to Israel.
  8. Shoshana Milgram, who is (or was), the authorized biographer of Rand appeared 7/29 on the Strive Face Book group (Strive is an ARI-associated student group). The recording isn't up yet. She did discuss PARC starting at 1 hour. Unfortunately I got booted off when I (perhaps foolishly) mentioned that people should read my rebuttal. Hopefully the full recording will be up soon.
  9. 9th Doctor, I've read some writings by Mythers. It's hard to take seriously. There is more evidence for the existence of a historical Jesus than most people in the ancient world.
  10. Larry Hurtado and Richard Carrier have had some back and forth on Hurtado's blog.
  11. Michael, Thanks for your kind words. Baal and 9th Doctor, I'm not interested in the writings of a potty mouth like Carrier,
  12. I reviewed the book on Amazon. For some reason I can't insert a link. Anyway it's one star review. Check out my comments. https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R21N3705LBJS5C/ref=cm_cr_othr_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B01LRP3EDG
  13. The donor would have to be Barney, Koch brother or Barney. My guess is Allison. Apparently even Britting, the archivist, got axed. He was one of the few productive people there.
  14. It's at one hour 3 minutes. I'm having a hard time pasting the you tube. It's the May 29 about racism, blacks and Hispanics.
  15. I have no information other than what I said. Idon' have much information on TAS. Jennifer Grosman is sympathetic to Christianity, I'm a Christian.
  16. According to Brook they lost a big donor. Rumor is they axes 15 of 50 employees a couple weeks ago.
  17. I didn't follow the trial, but apparently he was accused of raping one woman, but 5 other women were allowed to testify of similar conduct. I know that isn't necessarily against the rules of evidence, but it seems unfair.
  18. We haven't wreaked enough havoc in the Middle East? - Iraq, Libya and now Syria? What goes on in Syria is none of our business. It's either Assad or Al Qaeda.
  19. Speaking of Yaron Brook, did anyone see that he is now raising money on Patreon to support his show on the Blaze (Glenn Beck's network)? He must be in need of a lot of money because if you contribute a large amount per month (I forget how much) you can speak to him for 15 minutes a month. Did the ARI enter into a contract with the Blaze to air the show?
  20. 9th Doctor, Valliant thinks that the Apostle Paul was a Roman agent. Paul was executed mid to late 60s. This would mean that the Christianity was created by the time of Paul's first letter (1 Thessalonians - c. 50), during the Julio-Claudians (which ended in AD68) . He also thinks the Gospels were written by the Flavians (68-96AD). It strikes me as odd that the Flavians would have any interest in continuing a scheme of previous emperors such as Nero.
  21. Michael, I have no problem with nutty books like Valliant's, but judging from Air Head Amy's interview with him, there are people who will get all their info on the New Testament from him. There are plenty of good books on the historical Jesus one can read.
  22. Here is an interview of James Valliant by the former Mrs. Peikoff, https://dontletitgo.com/2017/07/11/creating-christ-an-interview-with-james-valliant-tomorrow-at-3-p-m-et-12-p-m-pt/
  23. For what it's worth, Creating Christ is much better written than PARC. I assume that's because of Fahy. Incidentally some of Valliant's sources are from Wikipedia. As I wrote: I mentioned that Valliant and Fahy show almost no knowledge of contemporary New Testament scholarship. They do mention Luke Johnon's The Real Jesus for the possibility that the Epistle of James may be one of the earliest documents in the NT. They cite page 121 of that book. The wikipedia article on James cites Johnson's book, page 121, for the same point. Some style books require "as cited in . . ." and others strongly recommend it (according to RC). I guess a twist on the famous "Valliantquoat."
  24. For those who didn't know (I may have mentioned this before), but Jim Valliant recently came out with a book on the origins of Christianity (Creating Christ). I reviewed it and extensively posted comments on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R21N3705LBJS5C/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B01LRP3EDG Unfortunately Valliant refuses to debate me so we aren't going to relive the glory days of the PARC Wars.
  25. Michael, If Allred believes her client then she should submit the year book for review. Based on the kind of ink, how much or little it has chemically changed and how the ink has penetrated the page, a document analyst could easily tell if the inscription was made this year or decades ago.
