Sanders’ rise has been meteoric. The socialist senator trailed Clinton by a 44-8 margin in a Franklin Pierce/Herald poll in March.

More than half of New Hampshire’s likely Democratic primary voters say they view Sanders “very” favorably, an indication of the excitement the Vermont senator has generated among his mostly liberal supporters.

Good grief...

What hasn't been released: data that could show how secure her system was, whether someone tried to break in, and who else had accounts on her system. A lawyer for Platte River Networks, a Colorado-based technology services company that began managing the Clinton server in 2013, said the server was provided to the FBI last week.

Indeed, many physical details of the server remain unknown, such as whether its data was backed up. In March, The Associated Press discovered that her server traced back to an Internet connection at her home in Chappaqua, New York.

A computer server isn't a marvel of modern technology. Just like a home desktop, the computer's data is stored on a hard drive. It's unclear whether the drive that Clinton used was thoroughly erased before the device was turned over to federal agents.

If it had been, it's also uncertain whether the FBI could recover the data. Clinton's lawyer has used a precise term, "wiped," to describe the deleted emails, but it was not immediately clear whether the server had been wiped. Such a process overwrites deleted content to make it harder or impossible to recover.

Kendall, her attorney, could be in serious trouble having possession of that thumb drive.

Additionally, a lot of folks are not as technologically aware of how large an exposure Evita has.

Investigators who examine her server might find all sorts of information — how it was configured, whether it received necessary security updates to fix vulnerabilities in software, or whether anyone tried to access it without permission.

Running a server is akin to her messages being stored inside an office file cabinet. But while a file cabinet only yields the documents stored inside, a server can also offer information about the use of that data over time: Who had access to the filing cabinet? Did anyone try to pick the lock? Did the owner attempt to alter the files in any way? And who was given keys to the building in the first place?

Since her server was first installed in 2009, it most likely used a traditional hard disk-based device rather than a newer solid state unit that only has become commonly used in the last two or three years, said computer scientist Darren Hayes. Solid state drives, until recently, were much more expensive than their counterparts for storing lots of data.

Forensics experts would then have an easier time retrieving erased data because such older, disk-based servers are not as efficient in deleting material, said Hayes, assistant professor and director of cybersecurity at Pace University's School of Computer Science and Information Systems in New York.

"A hard disk drive is very difficult to manipulate," he said. "Once you get your hands on a hard drive, there's a lot you can recover."

Even after files are marked for deletion on a disk, Hayes said, their contents remain on the drive and can be retrieved. Even if the full file is gone, fragments can be pulled off the drive. Sometimes a complete email file even can be found inside other files marked for deletion.

Clinton said in March that she had exchanged about 60,000 emails during her four years in the Obama administration, about half of which were personal and deleted. She turned over the others to the State Department, which is reviewing and releasing them on a monthly basis.

Last month, the inspector general for the nation's intelligence community warned that some of the information that passed through Clinton's server was classified information.

It's generally not possible to forward or cut-and-paste an email marked classified to a private account because classified email systems are closed to outsiders. But it can be illegal to paraphrase or retype classified information from a secure email into an unprotected message sent to a personal address.

Hayes said forensics experts could, in most cases, determine whether the server used encryption to transmit emails, which would be important in learning whether her occasional email discussions of classified and sensitive matters might have been vulnerable to hackers and snooping by foreign governments.

The server's internal registry could also provide hints of whether hackers penetrated the server's security.

"They may have deleted a lot of data, but there's a lot of data that a good forensics team would be able to recover," he said.

Jules, please take the time to read the Snopes "Body-count" entry. I won't reproduce the whole thing, as it is very long and involved, but here is just a sample:

A 2007 version of the "Clinton Body Count" list was headed with this entry:

James McDougal - Clinton's convicted Whitewater partner died of an apparent heart attack, while in solitary confinement. He was a key witness in Ken Starr's investigation.

James McDougal, a key witness for Whitewater prosecutors when the investigation centered on an Arkansas land deal in which the president and McDougal were involved, had a pre-existing heart condition and died of a heart attack on 8 March 1998 while in solitary confinement at the Federal Medical Center prison in Fort Worth. The ailing McDougal had been placed in solitary as punishment for failing to provide a urine sample for a drug test. On the day before his death and while still in his regular cell (where he had access to his heart medications), he had complained of dizziness, and while being processed for isolation he threw up. However, once in isolation, he did not ask for his medicines and appeared to guards "alert, well-oriented and absent any visible signs of distress" right up until his death. An investigation into the circumstances of his demise did not find evidence of foul play.

(The McDougal entry was not part of the "Clinton Body Count" list as it circulated in 1998.)

1. Mary Mohane - former White House intern gunned down in a coffee shop. Nothing was taken. It was suspected that she was about to testify about sexual harassment at the White House.

Former White House intern Mary Caitrin Mahoney, 25, manager of a Georgetown Starbucks, was killed along with two co-workers (Emory Allen Evans, 25, and Aaron David Goodrich, 18) on 6 July 1997 during a robbery of the shop. In March 1999, Carl Derek Havord Cooper (29) of Washington was arrested and charged with these murders.

Yes, it is unusual that three employees were killed in the course of a robbery during which nothing was taken. According to Cooper's 26 April 2000 guilty plea (he received life with no hope of parole), he went to the Starbucks to rob the place, figuring the receipts from the July 4 weekend would make for a fat take. He came in after closing, waved a .38, and ordered all three Starbucks employees into the back room. Once there, Mahoney made a run for it after Cooper fired a warning shot into the ceiling. She was ordered back to the room, but then went for the gun. Cooper shot her, then afterwards shot the other two employees. He left empty-handed, afraid the shots had attracted police attention. As regrettable as these three deaths were, this was nothing but a case of a robbery gone wrong.

And, right away, we have come to the first big lie of the "Clinton Body Count" list: Any unexplained death can automatically be attributed to President Clinton by inventing a connection between him and the victim. Mary Mahoney did once work as an intern at the White House, but so have hundreds of other people who are all still alive. There is no credible reason why, of all the interns who have served in the Clinton White House, Mahoney alone would be the target of a Clinton-directed killing. (Contrary to public perception, very few interns work in the West Wing of the White House or have any contact with the President. The closest most interns get to the chief executive is a single brief handshake or group photo.)

The putative reason offered for Mahoney's slaying, that she was about to testify about sexual harrassment in the White House, was a lie. This absurd justification apparently sprang from a hint dropped by Mike Isikoff of Newsweek just before the Monica Lewinsky scandal broke that a "former White House staffer" with the initial "M" was about to talk about her affair with Clinton. We all know now, of course, that the "staffer" referred to was Monica Lewinsky, not Mary Mahoney. The conspiracy buffs maintained that White House hit men rushed out, willy-nilly, and gunned down the first female ex-intern they could find whose name began with "M."

Finally, yes, there is Bush Death List ...

McQueen is quite interesting.

In 1989, the Freedom From Religion Foundation honored her with its Freethought Heroine Award. "I'm an atheist," she had declared, "and Christianity appears to me to be the most absurd imposture of all the religions, and I'm puzzled that so many people can't see through a religion that encourages irresponsibility and bigotry." She told a reporter[8] "As my ancestors are free from slavery, I am free from the slavery of religion." This quote was used by the Freedom From Religion Foundation in advertisements inside Madison, Wisconsin, buses in 2009[9] and in an Atlanta market in 2010.[10][11]

She lamented that, had humans put the energy on earth and on people that had been put on mythology and on Jesus Christ, there would be less hunger and homelessness. "They say the streets are going to be beautiful in Heaven. Well, I’m trying to make the streets beautiful here ... When it’s clean and beautiful, I think America is heaven. And some people are hell."[12]

Apparently, Evita's firm in Colorado, that "secures/secured" her server, occupied a loft apartment that had been converted into an office.

Within the office, the server was stored in the closet of a bathroom which is like throwing raw meat into today's media sea.

I have edited the post above, added a quote enclosure to the analysis you seem to have attributed to me instead of to the Snopes contributor who wrote it.

-- when I offset by indents after indicating an off-site source/following a URL link, the offset material is taken from the source. I can't answer for the Snopes contributor's language, and prefer not to argue semantics on her behalf.

I hope you take the time to read the full debunking. There is a lot of lurid nonsense floating around the internet. This is but one example.

Sorry.

I clicked on the link. I stopped reading it when I read about JFK jr dying in that plane crash.

I'm a pilot. Once I regularly flew my flying club aircraft out of the same New Jersey airport--Caldwell--he departed from. When earning my private license my instructor deliberately (and illegally) took the Cessna 172 into the clouds and told me to fly on instruments. I couldn't do it the first time. My body was screaming don't do! what my mind was saying do instead, looking at the instruments. I was suffering from complete spatial disorientation. We were in a climbing right turn near a stall and maybe a spin. (I've also spun a 172 twice--same instructor.)

That's what happened to JFK jr. Not enough training. Flying at night and over water too boot. He lost control of his twin-engined airplane and killed himself and his passengers not realizing the situation could be saved simply by letting go of the controls if the craft was properly trimed for the power setting as it damn well should have been. You see, if you let go of the controls you feel you're letting go of your salvation and salvation comes from magnifying your control inputs according to what your body feels. You die in a panic of why oh why aren't the inputs doing what my body says they should be doing? Not enough input!--input more inputs or die!

So, my unscientific conclusion is the site is crap.

This stumped me for a minute, until I realized you were not talking about the Snopes debunking. There is no mention of the JFK Jr crash on the Snopes Clinton Body Bag page . So, excellent and interesting as your comments about small planes and crashes were, I couldn't connect them to the Snopes analysis I linked to. Silly me not immediately grasping that you had followed the link to the Bush Body Bag whoopee site, where JFK Jr being offed by the gang was suggested.

Snopes is a lint trap, filter, a summary of investigation, an aid to good cognitive housekeeping. To better answer Jules' note about coincidence vs conspiracy, I'd have to take time off from work and come back later. So I chose to point to somebody who had collated a lot of information and put it to rational tests. As you discovered at the whoopee site, the Clintons no more rubbed out masses of inconvenient people than did the Bushes.

If there was a further unspoken caution in my "go see Snopes" suggestion -- in the context of Hillary Clinton scandals -- it's that besides the urban legend are much better points of attack, that can move the needle among possible Clinton supporters.

Clinton must face the real scandals of her career and ambitions, I think. She must face the harsh scrutiny that is top-level US politics. Those who seek to block her from the White House have better dossiers than the loopy stuff of the hit list -- those are the dossiers will convince Clinton supporters to move their votes elsewhere -- while already anti-Hillary folks don't need the bogus hit list to oppose her in the first place. I just think it's in the non-starter class, with no power to move the needle at all.

Even the harshest critics of Hillary from here until Doomsday will avoid mentioning body bag nonsense, concentrating on plausible or probable malfeasance, eg, Benghazi, Emailgate -- and the menace of her policies. While piling on real baggage and its persistent stink.

Here's a horrible thought. Somehow she will weather the stink and smell of the many real scandals and pull off the Democratic nomination. Then opponents should beware the big old dog himself stumping for his wife. There's a guy who knows how to face down scandal; whether blowjob or body bag. A formidable campaigner, with perhaps some ambition to be First Gentleman.

It's still such early days. The rotting old Sea Hag might still be afloat on August 19, 2016.

I now take a vow of silence on US presidential politics until after a new Parliament is returned in Canada October 19, 2015. I will watch the rest of our campaign wondering if Stephen Harper will ride out the scandal of the Duffy Affair.**

Mike Duffy, a former political correspondent on Canadian TV, was appointed to the Senate. Although he maintained an Ottawa-area home, he was appointed to represent Prince Edward Island. He did a bit of dodgy expensing and is now on trial for accepting a bribe from the prime minister's then chief-of-staff. The question is as always, who knew what when, and who knew of the coverup ... in this case, the expenses were paid out of pocket by the PM's chief of staff, supposedly without the PM's knowledge. 90 thousand dollars changed hands.

As with all scandals, the details of the executive's scramble to look good and deny wrongdoing are fascinating. When a president or prime minister's upper-level staff massage the message and manipulate actors (Senate, auditors, hidden networks of influence) behind the scenes, all to keep the party and the leader looking clean ... this is fine meat to a political gourmand. You can imagine how much time the media is devoting to the bribery trial. And how well or badly the PM is handling daily queries from the media about his clean white hands.
