Today is 60th anniversary of the Hollywood Ten hearings. Turner Classic Movies is going to show some of the Hollywood Ten movies today.

The blog Powerline links to a post about the whole subject which is very informative. TCM does not tonight acknowledge the the Hollywood Ten were members of the Communist Party. The Hollywood Ten tried to put Communist propaganda into Hollywood movies. They also did a very good job of keeping anti-communist movies from being made by the Hollywood studios.

The Hollywood Ten lost their jobs but I would point out that no one has a right to a job. The Hollywood studio heads had a right to hire who they wanted.

Many of the Hollywood Ten continued to write using false names. Ayn Rand made the points that people who were friendly witnesses were fired and not allowed to work in the studios.
