Porter Wagoner died today. He was 80 and had cancer.
He was a big name in country music. He wrote and sang Green, Green Grass of Home.
His biggest claim to fame was he discovered Dolly Parton. Dolly's was his girl singer on TV show. Dolly wrote I Will Always Love You when she left his show.
Dolly was always grateful to Porter and helped him out when he was going through a rough patch.
Porter Wagoner was always a little to twangy for me but he was a class act.
Dolly is pretty good too.
