Some pricey AR memorabilia on EBAY

$20 or 30 thousand for a signed letter. Too rich for my blood.

When I first started looking at Rand stuff on eBay there were three pages of listings--maybe 300 items. It's since bloated up over many years to something over 2300 items. A lot of over-pricing. This one is the worst ever. It's a contract she didn't write, just signed and returned. Anybody who'd want this--I can't imagine who--would be a fool to pay more than $4000. It may be a consignment item.

The trick is to go to the sold listings to find out current values. Anybody can ask anything.

be very careful about buying "true" first editions of "The Fountainhead"--first printing, second printing, first edition, don't count on what's printed by the publisher up front when you open it up--too many nuances; little text mistakes or corrected mistakes--it's all too much and I've forgotten the details--buy an early printing with a first class original dust jacket--not a facsimile and don't worry about the first printing for the first printing you buy is 4 to 1 bogus so buy at least four--all will be likely be sold in willfully ignorant good faith (it should state "First Edition" but that doesn't necessarily mean first printing and you can buy one now for $8000 "signed" with a clipped signature and facsimile jacket which actually reduces the real value from around $800 to half that--that's right, pasting her clipped signature into the novel reduced it's value [and ruined the value of the clip which could have been mounted, but what was it clipped from?] with the new jacket contributing nothing) (Rand's signature, btw, is easy to fake: if she autographed a book "To Tom, Dick, Harry and Larry" then you can see her handwriting in the dedication as a backup)
