Jerry Biggers
Check this out - if you haven't yet seen it! Ralph Nader (there's only one!) is so concerned about the pernicious influence of Atlas Shrugged that he has written a whole "novel" (of sorts) reversing the themes, message, and plot line of Rand's magnum opus. It's titled, "Only The Rich Can Saves Us!" and it's out now.Even Newspeak (oops! I mean, Newsweek) in a highlighted book review in its issue of Sept. 17, 2009, and online at http://www.newsweek.com/id/215558 raises its eyebrows at this latest Nader effort, titling their review, "Unsafe At Any Read" (a parody of his first infamous book, Unsafe At Any Speed). And when Newsweek (now a virtual propaganda organ of the Obama Administration) publishes a skeptical review of something that was meant to attack Atlas Shrugged, you know it must be really bad! Christopher
What a funny title. I doubt most of us are billionaires on this site, yet I have no doubt many of us are individuals who do quite well helping society. The problem is that money per se is not a measure of virtue in today's society. There are just too many ways to earn money.
Brant Gaede
The liberals threw Nader on the trash pile years ago when they got pissed off at him running for President supposedly costing Democrats the election. This hypocrite has lived very well in Washington, D.C. in his sister's house--yeah, she paid for it!?--while pretending to live in a boarding house. As a public figure he is dead, dead, dead. No one is going to pump air into his bullet-ridden corpse in an attempt to revive him, not even for public display in the shop-window of liberal-progressive-fascism.--Brant
Selene
Folks:"The irony is that Nader has become a Galt-like figure himself, preferring to go on strike from an imperfect two-party system rather than live in it. Utopianists of all stripes should take a hard look."I am not sure that this comparison makes any sense or not. Chris:"The problem is that money per se is not a measure of virtue in today's society." I disagree, it has become symbolic of virtue; e.g., Al Gore, Madonna etc."There are just too many ways to earn money." << Now that is an interesting question. To make money, to earn money, a la Francisco's speech? Or the way Obiwan's wife made hers?Or Charlie Rangle?Brant:Correct in terms of the Democratic Party, but we have actively recruited third party efforts in a number of elections to siphon and split opponents votes as well resources to defend attacks.I believe that Nader definitely influenced the 2000 Florida race as did Buchanin, the question is did it "cost" the election. A pretty good argument could be made for that case.Adam

Jerry Biggers
OOPS! (again) I left out part of the title of Ralph Nader's pathetic (but probably unintentionally hilarious) book...it's ONLY THE SUPER-RICH CAN SAVE US! (italics mine). Mind you, I am NOT recommending it! It's just another example of the craziness of our culture.Sometimes, I think that Kafka gave a more accurate description of "reality" than Rand. Maybe they're not necessarily diametric opposites. I know a few people that might fit the bill as cockroaches...
Michelle
"(For those scoring at home, the radio interview in Atlas between Dagny Taggart and Bertram Scudder is re-rendered by Nader as a clash between Ted Turner and somebody named Bush Bimbaugh.)" Oh, good lord, that is lame.

It occurs to me that if Ellsworth Toohey were to write a novel himself, he'd produce something more readable and praiseworthy than this bit of self-enclosed mediocrity.
