Arguing about definitions

It just occurred to me that when one believes there is a correct definition for a word then it automatically leads to arguments about definitions rather than discussions about the topic. I have seen this happening in the thread Defining Anarchy and many others. The discussion should be about things like "how much can you limit a government before it cease to function as a government?". Instead it about "this is not anarchy", "anarchy doesn't exist", etc. etc. Thsi represents a basic misunderstanding of general semantics which leads to incessant arguing.
