Where does the President's Job Stop?

This is an under current of the last few decades. Starting with the Fascist/Socialist movements of the 1930's, through WWII, the Cold War (possibly best dramatized by Ian Fleming), and continuing through the "War on Terror".

How far does the President take his responisbbility to protect his citizens? I say it doesn't. However, I'm reading a lot that either: George Bush should admit to "War Crimes" and apologize, or be put on trial.

I have a hard time believeing that people don't understand th ramifications of not pursuing protection of our citizens at all costs. Yet, many of our citizens seem to think that collecting information, possibly to save their arses is "immoral"? If one of government's functions is to protect its citizenry, then I'mm all for making sure the plane I am on, or the train I'm riding isn't turning into a ball of flames. And if it takes the FBI or CIA using "extreme measures" to do sso, then do so. I'm sure the other side has has no qualms about using such tools.

Like moviestars, we as a society glorify positions of influence and fame. The President is not "just another person" in most Americans' minds, nor to the feel of the American people. If we wanted to hold the President to actual standards, we would need to change how we as a society view the office of the presidency. When we make the President into an image greater than that of a man, we cannot fathom treating him as less than our personal image of him.

And I'd also like to point out that the President's job stops when he becomes the top poster of the day! Thank you, thank you... it took time and effort, and I'm proud to be the top poster for the day (don't even think of beating me Bill, I'm going to check back again before midnight!!.... no I'm not, that's an empty threat meant to lure you into a helpless fear so that you don't attempt to outpost me. Besides, you live in China if I recall, so technically you're posting tomorrow)

Beware of this bizarre obsession.

Alas, the website suggests you beat me in posts, perhaps because of this snippet of "advice" you are claiming to offer (17 v 16). I don't know when I'm going to have the stamina to make that many posts again. It was also a lucky day in that Xray wasn't over-posting.

Chris:

Ms. Xray has been limited to five (5) posts a day by Michael.

You caught that, eh? :)

I generally made a good effort for most of my posts, but gotta squeeze one or two in there for icing. It makes things, shall we say... interesting.
