www.campaignforliberty.com is the place to go to join the Campaign For Liberty if you truly want to be part of a movement which is determined to keep growing until we have enough people in this country and around the world who understand the crucial issues and are spreading the word and passing the torch. Just let others you meet know about this movement.

The growth will become exponential in time and attract the media so word will spread even faster.

this movement will stagnate or peter out as soon as the few hundred thousand True Believers have joined it. In the end all of you in the choir will sit around singing Kumbaya.

The vast majority of American voters are quite satisfied with their low calorie version of socialism. Two generations since the New Deal have be nurtured in the government-centric mode. You guys have a generational battle to wage and you will probably lose. As long as freedom of speech (which is the right to complain) remains largely intact, no major changes will occur to the system.

You see the unfortunate thing is that we have a system that is easy to adapt to, and is sufficiently stable that it will not fall of its own weight. It will muddle through. It will soldier on. We do not have the conditions for Revolution. Americans will be able to fiddle and tinker the system sufficiently well that it will not grind to a halt. That is Pragmatism in action. You want proof? The result of the Great Depression of 1931 was not a socialist revolution, not a fascist putsch, not a communist uprising. It was the New Deal, a genuine made in America kludge. And damned if it didn't work. The result of the Second Depression of 2008 will be yet another kludge, computer based, blog-driven. The system will lurch onward into the future and it will be free enough to permit technological innovation to fuel it. It is a philosophical abomination and a practical success. Hand an American a piece of shit and he will turn it into an S.U.V..

You have no answer that will pass empirical muster. You have ideals and vain hopes. When the Disappointment sets in I hope it will not be too painful for you. I have learned to avoid that pain with attention to facts and low expectations. It works quite well. A pessimist can never be disappointed. He can only be pleasantly surprised.

I don't agree with galt sometimes and think he does not know when the game is up and it's time to start a new inning, but I like his ideals and hopes. I find them spiritually refreshing.

That's the only way you ever get really important things done.

Michael

Michael,

Thank you, Michael, you made my day.

Actually when I think about it a couple of other encounters also helped to confirm my reason to believe in our future.

I enlightened a colleague at work about the movement and she was truly excited about it. She is very good at what she is employed to do but shares the widespread ignorance about economic issues such as fiat money creation and the gold standard. I will have plenty of time to nurture her.

Over 110 million voted in the last election. Why do I feel so underwhelmed by your numbers?

100K doubled 200K doubled 400K doubled 800K doubled 1.6M doubled 3.2M doubled 6.4M doubled 12.8M doubled 25M doubled 50M

Its known as compounding and it is rather powerful according to none other than Albert Einstein!

The first 100K only have to find nine more and assuming that each person found will go on to pass the torch each successive wave only has to reach successively one less than that, e.g. eight more, seven more, six, five, four, three, two, one.

In reality the first tier is quite strongly motivated and will keep passing the torch, as will many of those similarly convinced of the meaningfulness of the movement and the veracity of their beliefs, e.g. sound currency, adherence to Constitutional limits on the powers of the Congress, noninterventionist foreign policy, individual rights and sovereignty.

Given that there were only 6000 when I joined last summer and the power of the internet, we are now approaching 100 thousand.

Each of us encounters many people each day directly and in person. For the most part in general people talk about the weather, the latest news, sports, work but usually one does not "recruit" into a movement. But if done correctly, and there are probably many ways to do it successfully and many ways to fail as well, one can enlighten someone simply about the existence of the movement and what it is about and what their goals are in order to ignite the spark of hope for a freer life and country for their children rather than the horror we face if power is left in the hands of our ignorant, incompetent, corrupt leaders.

And my question for those of you who scoff, just what were you counting on to save the day?

You assumption of doubling is somewhere between fantastic and insane. Look. Get a grip on yourself. Take your meds. Eventually you may get enough people together to elect a dog-catcher.

Ba'al Chatzaf

Ba'al,

Actually doubling amounts to each of us reaching one more person. You see, if there are 100,000 of us and each of us keeps enlightening friends, relatives, neighbors, co workers, strangers one at a time then that 100,000 becomes 200,000, and so on.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I have engaged in this endeavor and have been able to find quite a number who have joined all by myself. So I know first hand that it can be done. It is easier to find individuals to join this venture than to entice or persuade someone to become interested in Objectivism. I know because I have been doing that for decades with some success as well.

Those of us who value our freedom and are willing to do what is necessary to lay the groundwork might succeed in the future with successful steps along the way. If you choose to scoff, condescend, smear and pontificate as if you have some superior knowledge of what will work and what will not, you are welcome to benefit in the long run from the efforts of your betters.

Perhaps in time you will recognize that this doubling thing is working and you will take the trouble to join us. I am that optimistic about your openness to the idea.
