Ayatollah Spitzer's History: He Does to Whores What He Did to Us

It is ironic that New York Democrat Governor Eliot Spitzer has had his undeserved reputation for high moral standards tarnished by his sexual escapades which, while perhaps sleazy, did not harm any of us. In fact he deserved our moral scorn for his assault on productive individuals and flouting of the rule of law when he was New York attorney general, done arrogantly in the name of "morality."

In an article entitled "Eliot Spitzer: Ayatollah General," in the April/May 2005 issue of The New Individualist, Roger Donway exposed the details of that envy-based assault as Spitzer prepared to run for governor. The disregard he showed for his family in the recent sex scandal is nothing compared to the disregard he has shown for our freedoms.

You can read Roger's article on The Atlas Society's website www.atlassociety.org or at http://www.objectivistcenter.org/showcontent.aspx? ct=1542&h=53 .

The only tragedy here is he got taken down for doing less as governor of NY to a whore than what Clinton did to an Intern as President of the US. Oh, yes. He was morally pure as the driven snow until the whore, while the reality is he was the number one thug in New York State as its atorney general. I've watched his despicable behavior for years as he bashed in the heads of anyone who might be of value for him with their heads bashed in, usually businessmen. The irony is he won't be able to take his show on the road to the White House; reality has overtaken his bullshit acting.

Spitzer was caught on an FBI wiretap because his $1000/hr hooker was part of an offshore money laundering scam.

I thought she was a $5300 an hour ho'. If he was paying her out of his own pocket, why is there a problem? Aside from eating cold beans at home for the next ten years, what is the Big Deal?

Bob K,

The last paragraph of this morning's Times article on Gov. Spitzer's predicament notes that while NY State Attorney General, he went after two prostitution operations similar to the one that he was caught patronizing. Making loud public proclamations about how awful they were...

When he was attorney general, Mr. Spitzer’s signature issue was pursuing Wall Street misdeeds. But he also oversaw the prosecution of at least two prostitution rings by the state’s organized crime task force, which reports to the attorney general.

In one such case in 2004, Mr. Spitzer spoke with revulsion and anger after announcing the arrest of 16 people for operating a high-end prostitution ring out of Staten Island.

“This was a sophisticated and lucrative operation with a multitiered management structure,” Mr. Spitzer said at the time. “It was, however, nothing more than a prostitution ring.”

In what way?

That so called "sexual deviance" is statistically quite normal.

Your magazine wantonly waterboarded Ron Paul, so no, thank you.

But that's a damn good thread title.

What sort of "sexual deviance" [no definition] is "statistically quite normal" which means ...?

Most humans go to prostitutes????
