The "D" Word - 2024 (please and thank you)

In case someone doesn't know, "D" stands for donation.

Hat in hand time.

 

Every year I ask for donations for OL and this year is no exception. What an awful year finance-wise this last year has been.

You see, I refuse government and NGO support for OL. (Believe it or not, we get probes.)

OL doesn't have a master who is tied into a larger organization, who is tied to an even larger organization, who is tied to a group of large organizations, who is tied to... you get the idea. 

We are too proud and committed to greatness and freedom, starting with Rand's vision, to bend the knee to anyone like that. We bow to no Predator Class bully. We bow to no tyrant.

 

I want to say this is me and me alone, but that's not true. This is us and us alone.

We are blessed with a few people who contribute to keep the lights on around here. I am more grateful than I have words for when I think of them.

You see, OL is free for you, but it is not free from the inside.

Nor do I think free is a good idea when I have studied and seen how much free really costs. 

Do you want to know what the real price is of doing a forum the free way in all respects? It's our freedom. That's the price, although that may not seem obvious at first. It starts with surveillance, then our freedom of speech, then our freedom of action in one sphere like health, then another like travel, then on and on until we are corralled like livestock. 

OL is outside of that.

We have a vision around here and we live that vision, not just talk about it.

And that costs money, so we need your help. 

 

Besides, it is getting time to change OL up with an overhaul. And that costs, too.

I will not change this site if it interferes with what we built. We have to take what's here and make it better and easier to use. The term "creative destruction" is not part of this mission. Creative building is.

But doing it right is not cheap.

 

Do you get value from OL?

Then you are OL.

You are family.

We have survived and we will continue to survive and thrive despite enormous odds.

You are one of the main reasons.

 

The next time you get outraged because Big Tech deleted the "wrong" political message, the next time you see the government erode a different freedom, the next time you see Big Health Care do abominations with children's body parts, the next time you feel helpless as another endless war starts up. the next time you want to know what is happening on getting rid of the Marxist takeover of America, the next time... the next time... the next time...

Know that OL is here. OL is here for you to keep your flame of freedom alive where you can say something about it, where you can help do something about it, even when it only means making it known.

 

"Need" is not a good Objectivist word, but facts are what they are. 

OL needs you right now.

They really made a mess of this world for those outside of the Aristocracy of Pull and government moolah...
