I totally missed that.

William,

Oops.

🙂

I mostly don't read your compilations of stuff from others. I tend to read your comments only.

And since you rarely comment these days other than a grunt here and there, I probably miss a lot.

🙂

Just for the record, I learned about this from Rush Limbaugh. And, to keep in the spirit of your preferred form of interacting these days, I will follow your lead.

Grunt grunt.....   grunt...

What exactly about having a facelift makes one inappropriate or unqualified to do a job that they otherwise would have been appropriate or qualified for?

Deanna,

It's not what. It's when and how.

Part of running for President and VP is public image.

What Harris did, coming out in public before the Botox (or whatever she did) had settled shows extreme incompetence at that.

Imagine how seriously she would take the need for a good image before foreign leaders with that attitude.

Something silly like that could cost lives or God knows how much money.

Besides, I don't like Harris's qualifications, or better, history of wielding power. Too many convictions and long jail sentences for victimless crimes. Too much use of the penal system for punishing people and companies re her notion of environmentalism. I always found her questioning of witnesses as a Senator focused on gotcha technicalities and kinda beside the point once she had mouthed the Dem party line. If I dig into this, I can come up with a lot of things. Tulsi Gabbard rightly sank her presidential aspirations during a debate by calling her out on her high numbers of convictions for victimless crimes crap.

Harris, also, has a horrible public presence when she talks. Hopefully, for her, she is getting coaching. But jumping the gun on going out in public after a facelift the way she did shows she is not a good learner from image coaches. At least she has stopped being the one to laugh the hardest at her own goddam jokes.

🙂

I think this woman is a nasty piece of work and would use Vice Presidential power (if she got it, including Presidential power if Biden died or were incapacitated) in a vindictive and petty manner, not in a way to better the country. And, owing to her hard head, I don't see her growing after obtaining a position of power and coming out a good guy. Viscerally, I don't like people who get off jailing others. And, going by her history, that is one of her satisfying pleasures in life.

And there's this from CNBC.

Some Biden allies wage a shadow campaign to stop Kamala Harris from becoming vice president

Although I don't give two hoots about her ambition.

Ambition comes with the territory. In fact, if someone is in her position and is not ambitious I would smell a rat.

In this article, it is clear that lots of insider Biden donors can't stand her. If she is chosen, they will probably do to her what McCain's people did to Sarah Palin. They will do that even as the campaign is unfolding.

Not that I would mind in her case...

Don't be daft. You know damn well what Woods is getting at. That would be Joe Biden's America.

William,

Yup.

It's kinda obvious, no? Due to the ubiquity of everybody saying this everywhere and all...

And looking at the video you just posted, I had this thought about Harris.

After having the entire Internet and media in general take a dump on your face, it's comforting to know that what the Plastic Surgeon giveth, the Plastic Surgeon can taketh away...

On just a human level, I hope Harris does not get addicted to painkillers.

Korben,

Really?

Who would be the other face during an Al Sharpton interview?

Don't you think someone among Al Sharpton's people or someone high up in the Dem world would have called foul by now and supplied the real video?

It's not as if doing this is as complicated as brain surgery.

Just say, "That's not the video that aired. Here is the real video."

Put the real video on and boom. Done.

Kinda duh level? No?

I haven't seen anybody do that, yet. Have you?

btw - The video above is on Kamala Harris's own YouTube channel. By posting it, she sure seems to think this video is real.

(Man... I know liberals can't meme, but they can't even do conspiracy theories right. 🙂 )

If you are interested, go on and experiment with the deepfake program yourself. It's open source.

Faceswap

People have used deepfake with Harris before, though. It's generally to put HER face on someone else as satire, not the contrary.

Here's an example.

Hahaahaha...

I even like Don Winslow's thrillers. I've read a couple. Not great on character, but fast action and page-turning appeal.

In politics, though, he's a disaster.

Wait for it...

Wait for it...

You know it's coming...

Here it is...

He certainly doesn't know how to win fast.

This video isn't a deepfake video, why are you asking about this video?  The twitter video posted earlier in this thread is the one I was talking about.

Duh level?  I looked for the original video and I couldn't find it, if it's out there then more power to whoever can dig it up---and golly, maybe that's why nobody has posted the original,  who woulda thunkit?

But what is your position about the twitter video?  It's not a deepfake?  Is it altered?  Does it have artifacts make her appear strange?  I'm asking because you compared the twitter video to a video from her youtube channel but there are differences between the two.  It doesn't matter to me if the twitter video is a deepfake or not, and it doesn't matter to me if she has had plastic surgery or not.  She looks different from a year ago so it looks like she has had some work done, but she doesn't look like catlady (look it up).  It doesn't make her unfit for a potential VP nod, so I'm not sure what the issue is.  That's not support for her or Biden for candidates; Biden's memory problems are an issue, but Harris's appearance isn't, is it?

Korben,

You mean this one posted by James Woods?

That has nothing to do with deepfake.

It's made with two pictures mounted underneath an animated GIF overlay. This was probably one of those dorky smartphone apps for Instagram or something like that. A party app. It belongs to the same category as one of those cheesy large carnival paintings with the face cut out. You go behind and put your own face in the hole and someone takes a picture from the front. That makes you look (crudely look) like you are a cowboy or a character in a movie or something like that. Sophistication-wise, this is on the same level as a whoopie cushion or a black rubbery plastic spider. It's for pranks.

I don't know where the Harris picture in the GIF came from for the base pose, but the second pose was a screenshot from the video I posted with Al Sharpton (which, by the way, is the video some people online are saying is deepfake). All James (or whoever) did was take a screenshot of an extremely awkward-looking frame from that video (all videos have extremely awkward-looking frames in them--this one had more than most taking Harris's face into account), trim it and plaster her face (crudely) over her original face on the picture for the second pose.

What on earth makes you think that is a deepfake? That's like doodling on a magazine picture with a red pen or making a collage (Elmer's glue and all) then telling everyone you Photoshopped it in order to sound highbrow. It's a weird use of the word and it doesn't make any sense. Are you just using the term deepfake to sound like you are knowledgeable about this without knowing what you are talking about?

James Woods presented a crudely made goof GIF from a smartphone app meant for laughs. But it was a well-made use of the app for emotional impact. Apparently it worked since it prompted you to do something that is way out of character for you.

OMG.

ROTFLMAO.

Quote

Biden's staff says Joe has been pacing the halls of capitol buildings, congress, and the Senate sniffing the air like a starve-crazed bloodhound in search of the perfect female candidate. "He's huffing longer, deeper inhalations," said his campaign manager Greg Schultz. "That means he's getting really close."

Per Trump Campaign senior advisor. Trump is not delaying the election but he is speculating about it. The election is on Nov. 3rd. He thinks write in voting would be a fraudulent waste.

Also, there's the following.

I saw Scott Adams talk about this the other day.

What does it matter which black woman Biden appoints as his VP running mate if he loses the Latinos in bulk?

By pandering to the blacks, he forgot the browns. (And the others, for that matter.)

🙂

Sir Biden hath been hoisted by his own petard of blackamoorish shibboleth, or, if you don't speak in old English sayings, blown up by his own racial profiling bomb.

Fox interview guest. Who will Biden pick? He wants to bring back some of the Obama glory so he will pick Susan Rice. Nasa TV is showing the capsule descending with all four parachutes deployed.

The guy on the right makes no sense -- if what he says would happen when the two come together on a stage was really what he thought would happen then he should want such a spectacle, over and over and over, he should want it.

He knows that nothing like what he says would happen would actually happen.

Lou Dobbs is talking with the President on the phone at 5:30pm. Trump caught Obama and Biden spying on his campaign. He will let the justice department handle it because laws were broken. It's a job trying to translate the following but his approval ratings are 49/49 but only 36 percent of those approving, strongly approve. BUT of those disapproving 44 percent strongly disapprove. In other words the Trump haters, really hate. Gee. What do they have against him?

Rasmussen Poll. Daily Presidential Tracking Poll Tuesday, August 04, 2020. The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that 49% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Forty-nine percent (49%) disapprove. The latest figures include 36% who Strongly Approve of the job Trump is doing and 44% who Strongly Disapprove. This gives him a Presidential Approval Index rating of -8.

I don't care what the polls say. Just look at the character of the people who run mainstream polls. They're the same people who own the fake news media. If not the exact same people, then their family and friends.

Rush Limbaugh said something today and I think he hit the nail on the head. He said that Trump supporters would crawl over flaming coals to cast their ballot in November. He said Trump is like General Patton for Trump supporters--you many not like this or that about his choice of vocabulary, but you sure like the way he wins.

He's right.

Let someone poll that if they can.

But they can't.

Do you know why?

Because they cannot conceive of an intelligent independent mind who would crawl over flaming coals to cast their ballot for President Trump. Once again, as with 2016, they don't believe people like me exist. And that is literally.

(At root, they can't believe someone like me would look down on them, which I do. It's not about Trump. Politically, it's about getting the work of freedom done. And not just gotchas about freedom, either. But gotcha is the only epistemological system they use and, even then, it's not for them to deal with reality. They use it to rule others--to get and/or keep power qua power.)

So how can they poll something they refuse to look at and believe is a fiction at best?

Modern mainstream polls are gotchas and nothing more. They have no correspondence to any real situation.

Their numbers are quacks--and nothing but quacks--coming from the bills of modern news anchor ducks.

Well put. I think the Rasmussen Poll is the most precise, three months from the election, so 49 to 49 is a President Trump win because his supporters will vote, even with Covid-19 and the infamous October Surprise. And I think that surprise has a 50 / 50 chance or more of going against Biden. The debates will go against Biden. Period. Rationally, I can’t imagine otherwise.

Biden’s progressive VP pick will satisfy his socialist and/or communist base. His pick could also satisfy his “it must be a woman” or “a woman of color VP nominee” base too. But I think there are quite a few woman voters who are independent thinkers and understand how America and the free market work. They want prosperity, peace and morally dependable world leaders in charge of The U.S. . . . and that is certainly President Donald Trump and back up QB Mike Pence.  So the odds aren't 50 / 50 but perhaps 55 / 45 in favor of our Great President.
