Writers and Thinkers

Anyone...

What personality would you like to see painted? I have 2007 planned out to do many paintings and I’m certainly open to suggestions. Think of the “Icons and Idols” of present or past when putting forth your suggestions. This could be in the area of thinkers, musicians, actors, artists, writers, politicians…what ever.

Have you done Hunter Thompson yet? I know he's been done extensively, but I'd like to see your version of the king of Gonzo.

Oh, btw, Victor-- on your website I think William S. Burroughs' last name is mistyped. I couldn't believe you even did Burroughs; fantastic!

Respectfully,

"Mr Engels,"

Dirty, filthy Unitarian (eew!)

Rich,

There are too many caricaturists who do “easy targets” like Woopie Goldberg or else an endless parade of politicians. Yawn.

I like to do a vast array of cultural figures—and by employing fine art techniques instead of doing the lame big head-on-little-body bit—and NOT using colors that look like they were used on the side of Vans in the 1970s.

Hunter Thompson, huh? Hmmm…

Rich, I like this dudes face. I'm inspired, so it's a done deal. Hunter Thompson it is.

When done, I'll forward to Kat. You'll love it.

Yes, Victor, I started thinking of Thompson when I saw your Burroughs...

And then I started thinking of Kerouac, of course.

Thompson is pretty much permanent on my top 3 list of writers that trip my trigger. Major influence, but no one touches his flow.

Larry Flynt and Vaclav Havel.

Larry Flynt for exposing the puritanical and anti freedom feminist movement as having more in common with the religious right than those who advocate for liberty.

Vaclav Havel for his excellent writing and for being a champion of freedom.

I've removed the pics in order to keep the focus on Victor's art.

James Joyce

Now I'm gonna make everyone on this board mad, but I happen to LOVE James Joyce. (Braces for attack).

How about that Fabian Socialist, George Bernard Shaw? Or his fellow Irish expatriate, Oscar Wilde? Of course, those two were practically living caracitures without any artist having to draw a thing. They were just extreme in and of themselves.

Chris, there are pictures of Kant and he is a most worthy subject, especially to an Objectivist audience. [Kant can’t, but Ayn Rand did]. http://www.rain.org/homeschool/images/immanuel_kant.gif

Peri, come on. There is a world of difference between a famous penis and smoking one. LOL.

Why, Victor, talk about smoking penises--that reminds me---(pause) Oh, never mind. I'll just close that door and move on.

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. Or so Siggy would tell you.
