Trump inauguration crowd size was the biggest EVAR!

From The Guardian:

Trump inauguration crowd photos were edited after he intervened

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/sep/06/donald-trump-inauguration-crowd-size-photos-edited

A government photographer edited official pictures of Donald Trump’s inauguration to make the crowd appear bigger following a personal intervention from the president, according to newly released documents.

The photographer cropped out empty space “where the crowd ended” for a new set of pictures requested by Trump on the first morning of his presidency, after he was angered by images showing his audience was smaller than Barack Obama’s in 2009.

The detail was revealed in investigative reports released to the Guardian under the Freedom of Information Act by the inspector general of the US interior department.

[...]

“[The NPS photographer] said he edited the inauguration photographs to make them look more symmetrical by cropping out the sky and cropping out the bottom where the crowd ended,” the investigators reported, adding: “He said he did so to show that there had been more of a crowd.”

[...]

The newly released files said Spicer was closely involved in the effort to obtain more favourable photographs. He called Reynolds immediately after the acting director spoke with Trump and then again at 3pm shortly before the new set of photographs was sent to the White House, investigators heard.

I wonder if any monkey-business is going on with crowd depiction at Trump rallies.

My goodness.

Imagine that.

Trump does not really draw crowds.

He Photoshops them.

It's all phony.

The elections visuals are rigged.

Nate Silver rules!

The blue wave is coming.

We can impeach Trump.

Hell, we can do like Robert Reich said and annul the Trump presidency. Reverse everything! Maybe even crown Hillary!

  :)

(This is in the souls of may anti-Trumpers. It's their Wheaties and gets them going in the morning. :) )

More fake news.

Let's try a reality check right right there in the article itself.

Direct quote:

Quote

It was not clear from the records which photographs were edited and whether they were released publicly.

Ho hum...

They always do that.

1. Misleading headline.
2. Misleading photos.
3. Misleading first paragraphs.
4. Cover your ass statement in the middle or near the end essentially saying they don't really know anything.

In this case, the CYA was at the start of the middle. (The trick is the media knows people skim online. The read the headline, look at the photo, and skim the first couple of paragraphs or so before moving on. So these are the places are where the fake news folks put heavy spin and propaganda. Facts amd CYA come later.)

This is a standard fake news media template.

It's constantly used in Muh Russians, for example. You can always find a disclaimer that there is no actual evidence so far or something like that. And this disclaimer is in every article.

As to the photos in the article, they used Reuters photos without timestamps? Gimme a break.

How many times does the fake news media have to be busted showing "crowd size" photos of a Trump event when they are actually showing the crowd size hours before the event? What are anti-Trumpers thinking? They keep trying to play the same con over and over and think they will get a different result...

Funny how reality never lets them, huh?

Even the swamp isn't convincing the swamp anymore.

Why Trump's Record Trumps the Media's Spin
The media is determined to prove that Donald Trump is unfit to be president.
by Christian Whiton

From the article (my bold):

Quote

My first reaction to the anonymous anti-Trump op-ed in the New York Times was perhaps unusual for a resident of the swamp, which has been so hyper this week: I chuckled, rolled my eyes, and didn’t even make it to the end of the article before losing interest.

It probably helps that I spent the week in Colorado and Utah, where seemingly no one cares. In the conversations in which I have participated or overheard, this subject has come up zero times. Muted televisions in airports and hotel lounges, which still carry CNN and its angry commentators out of habit, are blissfully ignored as life happens.

Most people outside the swamp either know what the media is up to or just don’t care anymore.

. . .

The media’s objective was to get the Washington commentariat focused on how Trump, in their estimation, is unfit to be president, and to do so at the beginning of the traditional post-Labor Day home stretch of the campaign season.

They have largely succeeded in this goal, but in so doing, failed again to learn the lesson that was so easy to conclude from the 2016 election and Trump’s steady popularity levels since then. That lesson is that the media and the commentariat no longer determine public opinion.

No matter how many outraged opinion pieces or news articles (but I repeat myself) the New York  Times produces, no matter how many smarter-than-thou analysts with non-prescription eyeglasses mope about sadly on CNN, no matter how many Obama fan boys and girls left in the White House press corps shriek at the president whenever in earshot, it just doesn’t matter anymore.

The economy hums. Trump keeps us out of foreign entanglements. Wages increase. America’s traditional meritocracy replaces the Democrats’ grievance-based society. Life happens.

And while the New York  Times op-ed was a nice try by the media, they must on some level, deep down, grasp the new reality: no one hears their screams.

Reality is sinking in.

Trump reality check on the economy:

Fact check: Is Trump right on a 100-year record for GDP and unemployment?

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-gdp-growth-unemployment-rate-tweet-fact-check-2018-09-10/

[...]

THE FACTS: The economy, though healthy, has been in better shape at many times in the past. GDP growth has surpassed the unemployment rate multiple times since the 1940s.

Economic growth reached 4.2 percent at an annualized rate in the second quarter, while the unemployment rate stands at 3.9 percent. Yet GDP growth has exceeded the unemployment rate more than a dozen times since the late 1940s, such as during the economic expansions of the 1950s and the late 1990s.

So far, the economy is growing at a modest rate compared with previous economic expansions. In the late 1990s, growth topped 4 percent for four straight years, from 1997 through 2000. In the 1980s expansion, growth even reached 7.2 percent in 1984.

[...]

So why can't Trump just state the facts?  The economy is better than it has been in a while, why isn't that fact enough for Trump?  Instead, he creates some fake news...  SAD!

Korben,

The day you understand this will be the day you embrace President Trump. (There is method to that madness, but I don't think you are at the point where you will allow yourself to see it. (Here's a hint. When Trump builds, he ALWAY states facts to his crew, his legal staff, etc., in the way you mean. If he didn't his stuff would be shoddy and he wouldn't make money.)

Apropos - How come you never complain about just stating facts re the mainstream fake news media or the establishment anti-Trumpers and Deep State? They don't just exaggerate, they make up shit that never existed, that never will exist, and pass it off as fact.

Yet you don't complain. Are you down with that?

Well my point is that Trump is fine producing fake news of his own...

But just for kicks, here was a fake news story about Trump that I saw the other day:

North Korea vows to KEEP nuclear weapons in huge blow to Trump as WW3 tensions soar

https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/1015441/world-war-3-north-korea-kim-jong-un-nuclear-weapons-donald-trump-russia

NORTH Korea has no plans to scrap its nuclear arsenal in a huge blow to Donald Trump as tensions soar on the Korean peninsular.

[...]  (blah blah blah, fake news, fake news, blah blah)  [...]

___________

This story is fake news and pretty easy to spot, it showed up in Google News.

Korben,

I agree, but only up to a point.

Here's another clue.

You cannot fight fake news (the way the mainstream press does it) with the truth if swaying public opinion is your aim.

It doesn't work.

You need more.

The secret to President Trump's technique is that he understands this "more" far better than the fake news media. And make no mistake, the mainstream fake news media does understand this "more." They understand it and they are masters of it. But President Trump is better and beats them at their own game.

You won't see this until you finally do. And then you won't be able to not see it. What's worse, the mainstream fake news media plays this game everywhere. (Several people have personally thanked me for pointing this out to them. It took time for the veil to come off with each one. But they told me this is exactly how it worked with them.)

The mainstream fake news media (the propagandists) won't stop, so you have to do something if you want a public voice in the toxic environment they create. You only get two choices: die by reputational murder or live. There is no third alternative. Not when they control the press.

President Trump lives. He understands the game in essentials and he plays it according to the rules the gatekeepers and fake news media smear-job killers impose on everyone. He learned to play it better than they do--using their own rules. And he beats them. Over and over and over.

His supporters know what he is doing. They know when he exaggerates, plays dummy gotcha, head-fakes for leverage, etc., and love it. None of them calls what he does "fake news" like you do. Instead, they see this as Trump shitting on his enemies and said enemies falling for it. And they keep falling for it, poor things, just like they keep pumping out sleaze to smear people they want to destroy and calling it the truth.

:)

Until you see it, you will keep making a false equivalency where there is a world of difference.

And, for the record, when truth without the propaganda storytelling crap is called for, that's exactly what President Trump provides. Once you see it, you can't not see this anymore, also.

It's like finding Wally in that kid's game. Once you see Wally for the first time in a picture, you always see him when you look at the picture again.

I sometimes wonder if Mr Thompson knows who pays tariffs once he imposes them, and what it means when the other guy imposes countervailing tariffs in response ...  the NAFTA implications for the auto industry seem not on Mr Thompson's radar.

Luckily, he has the Q option.

The impact of President Donald Trump's escalating tit-for-tat over tariffs is already being felt, say auto industry experts. New car prices are beginning to rise, and auto exports are dropping. But a new report warns that sales could plunge by as much as 2 million vehicles a year, resulting in the loss of up to 715,000 American jobs and a hit of as much as $62 billion to the U.S. GDP.

The Center for Automotive Research cites the biggest concern as the threatened use of trade rules known as Section 232 that would declare foreign-made cars and car parts a threat to national security. That could trigger a “downward cycle” in an auto industry already showing signs of decline after rebounding from the Great Recession, said Kristin Dziczek, a vice president and senior economist at the Center for Automotive Research, or CAR, in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

CAR’s new study is echoed by a variety of other studies looking at the potential impact of the Trump administration’s escalating trade war.

Already enacted tariffs on imported aluminum and steel have added about $240 to the cost of producing a new car, truck, or crossover in the U.S., noted Peter Nagle, a senior economist with research firm IHS Markit. And the first round of tariffs with China is adding still more to the price that manufacturers have to pay for a variety of parts used on American assembly lines.

The impact will grow as a result of the second round of China tariffs, Nagle added, cautioning that a “dizzying” series of trade moves will “exacerbate” the problems the auto industry faces as it struggles to head off the first downturn in sales since emerging from the depths of the last recession. Activating tariffs using Section 232 rules would likely prove devastating, he warned.

Nagel estimated consumers would be “looking at price increases of $1,300 for a typical mass market product, up to $5,800 for a luxury vehicle.” Those increases would not be limited to just imported vehicles. Toyota, for example, has forecast the price of a U.S.-made Camry would rise about $1,600.

In line with the new CAR study, IHS forecasts U.S. new vehicle sales would plunge by around 2 million vehicles annually, to 16.5 million a year from 2019 to 2025.

Add the possible tear-up of the North American Free Trade Agreement and the impact could be devastating. Under NAFTA, automakers have established a continent-wide network of parts and vehicle assembly operations. That’s backed up by a global production system that has been finely tuned, with little room for disruption. But industry experts warn that the Trump administration’s trade moves threaten to fracture that grid.

The impact could mean more than just higher costs. A number of medium-sized and smaller parts suppliers could be forced out of business, unable to afford the cost of relocating their operations back to the U.S. That could result in disruptions at assembly plants, said Nagle, possibly meaning shortages of some products, and a big hit to automakers’ profits.

If anyone wants to plow through this NYT fake news mess to see the details, have at it.

Fortunately the following Federalist article is not long.

New York Times Hid Multiple Key Facts In Kavanaugh Yearbook Hit

These NYT folks are people (including their habitual readers) who pretend they are superior to Alex Jones.

Yet look what they do. This is what they call news.

They're not superior. They're merely hogs rooting around in shit with lipstick on them.

See them prance, though. It's quite an entertaining show, that is if you're far enough away you don't smell them.

That's the way that the modern left works. Take any statement made by someone on the right, then selectively interpret it to mean something sexual, dirty, anti-women, racist, xenophobic, etc. It's the same childish shit that Carol tries to pull here on OL.

It's Beavis and Butthead journalism/activism.

"Today at the Senate hearing, Judge Kavanaugh said that 'reaching fair decisions in complex cases can be hard.' Uh, heh heh, he said 'hard.' Uh, heh heh heh, he was talking about his wiener. Hard, heh heh heh, like a boner. He's like unqualified to be a Supreme Court Justice, talking about wieners and boners all the time."

That's the intellectual level of the modern left in the U.S.

Oh, dear lord, how embarrassing! How uncouth! And the forecasts of doom! Let's not forget those! My, how utterly ghastly, Maude!
