Backlighting
"The futuristic ship is commanded by Captain James Kirk. If the ship is accepted by the Navy, it will conduct weapons trials in 2018" No it's not a misprint...James Kirk is in command. http://www.popularmechanics.com/military/navy-ships/a20218/a-reporters-tour-of-the-uss-zumwalt/
anthony
Wow. Looks lethal and is. A far cry from the vintage WW2 destroyers that appealed to me, she'd destroy a flotilla of them, no sweat.

I have twice been on a tour of the WWII era USS Bonhomme Richard when I was a young teen if I remember correctly, and I think it was in California. I can’t remember which shipyard but it may have been the San Francisco ship yard. It was old but I don’t remember it being in bad shape or smelly. A sailor gave the tour. The one that is on fire right now and in the news is the later version with the same name. Everyone pronounced “Bonhomme” in a French way but “Richard” was said just like an American person’s name and not in the French way, “Rish-ard.”
